Title: Friday The 13th 2015
Post by: SickAlice on January 13, 2015, 10:58:37 PM
I'll save you the trouble and consolidate the media articles at this point in time. There is a new Friday The 13th film greenlit and with a 2015 release date. Here's the skinny:

- The release date was March 2015, but has been pushed to November 2015.
- No cast and a crew has been talked about but not actually cemented. It is produced by Paramount. Brad Fuller is currently heading the project.
- No script has been finalized yet.
- The films title is working as is the promotional material.
- Speculation is that the film may or not include Jason as the antagonist (again no script).
- Speculation is that the film may or may not be filmed in the " lost footage style " (Blair Witch/Last Exorcism).
- Speculation is that the film may not relate to the 2009 reboot, then again it may be a sequel.
- Speculation is in this case not from the media and internet, rather the sum of the official press releases to date.
- A video game tie in is confirmed to be in development.
- At this point again, the films horror movie revile will be Victor Frankenstein by Fox. In addition to getting this film off the ground (or out of in Jason's case) in the fall Paramount is also making another horror/comedy film Scouts Vs. Zombies and Mission Impossible 5. Other films the movie will contend against in the seasonal box office are The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, Jem and The Holograms, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Martian (Ridley Scott), The Peanuts Movie, Jungle Book and St. James Place to name some of the more notable.

Now I normally believe in holding judgement on a film but I have to say this sounds sketchy to me. I even think at this point believing a 2015 release is pushing it and we may see another G.I.JOE 2 situation, where the film is openly promoted yet ends up happening another year later (in this case I also think that would be a good thing).
Thoughts...I know, not really anything to have thoughts on other than how little seems to actually be happening here. I usually don't do a film thread (I don't think I ever have anywhere actually) but this one stuck out like a sore thumb to me. Knowing you peeps are pretty good at breaking down a premise I wanted to see where anyone's head was at on this and if I'm somehow looking it at wrong or not giving it a fair shake at this point?

With the points you listed above I'd imagine it would be the scariest Friday 13th yet.  I'm already scared of what I would see given the short release  and filming time.  I would be scared to open my wallet at the theater.  I would even be scared to rent the dvd...does dvd rental still exist?.

Heh. Oh the terror. Left field I again but I just found it so strange. I caught this while looking over the list of 2015 films and this just seems like, purposed in the worst way possible. I know this film company has an idea how to do things right so it just caught me as odd how poorly executed everything is. Sort of came to mind as I was reading the list and trying to figure which film would be the biggest winner of the year and which the biggest dud. I think this one is contending for the latter. It just strikes me that it would be handled so sloppily especially given it is a proven franchise if nothing else.
