Title: Is There Anyway To Save A "Progressed" Hero File?
Post by: UltraSuperGuy on July 05, 2014, 03:41:47 AM
Hey, all.

I was just wondering if there is anyway to "save" a hero file that you've progressed through the game and have it visible in the characters tab of the main menu. You know, let's say I have a custom character that I'm playing in the game and as he gains CP, I add on to his powers, etc. but that version of the hero file is never accessible to me from the characters tab, it always just has the "starting version" of the hero before I added on to his powers.

If I want to use that more "progressed" hero in another game or mod, I basically have to look at him through a saved game and write down what I added on to him, and then go back to his original hero file and add that stuff on for use in the other game. I wish there was some way of extracting and saving that hero file that was progressed from the game.

I hope I'm making myself clear on this! Anyone know how to do this?

I guess you could use Stumpy's DAT Files Python scripts to read the saved games and write to characters.dat and powers.dat. More info in the FFX manual (http://ffx.freedomforceforever.com/manual.htm) under Mod-Making: Saved Games & Hero Files.

Thanks, I'll look into it.
