Kingsman: The Secret Service Trailer (http://www.dcuopost.com/multiverse-news/kingsman-the-secret-service-trailer/)
Interesting. It looks cool. Anyone read the series it's based on? I'm not terribly fond of Millar.
The series is actually pretty good and feels restrained for a Millar book. However, it also feels a lot like the outline for a movie pitch ... it's just a little slice of action/adventure.
I've heard a lot of Millar's projects from Kick-@$$ forward have been movie pitches in comic form (though Wanted did end up getting this treatment as well) and one thing I appreciate about these adaptations is that for all the bellyaching by critics about Hit-Girl glamorizing child violence in the film(s), from what I've seen (haven't seen the two KA films) ALL of the movies based on Millar's works (including the Ultimate Avengers animated films) are SUPER sanitized compared to the, er, potentially alienating content found in pretty much all of Millar's books from Ultimates forward.
As for the film itself, I saw a poster and a trailer for it when I saw the new X-Men film and it looks pretty good, though I have to wonder how much it has to do with the actual plot of Millar's book as opposed to the broad premise (see also: Wanted). Micheal Kaine's in it, so I know he's probably going to be good in it.
The trailer doesn't really look too similar to the comic ... probably not to a "Wanted" degree, but the film seems a lot more high-octane (ie the assassin the Gazelle has changed from an overweight African America dude to an acrobatic ninja-esque woman) and the character of Uncle Jack seems completely different.
I liked the comic, but I also like Millar and Vaughn together, so I'll reserve pre-judgement.
