I've been creating a family tree for over a year now. It's been a rewarding experience so far. I've managed to get in contact with relatives I never knew. Among the most rewarding items are the long 'lost' photographs that distant relatives provided.
Recently, my family moved out of the house we lived in for 47 years. During the move we found this picture (below) in an area my grandmother had stored items in the late 60's. We believe it may be a picture of her grandparent's family (maybe from the mid-1880's). We're just not sure which side...
So here is where I need your help, are any of the children in this picture...

Either of the adults in this picture?

This is a picture of my great-grandparents' family. My grandmother is the child in the middle with the smirk. (from 1914+/-)
This is the Polish side of my family. My great-grandparents' name was spelled at least 10 different ways, we can't find records of a port of entry for either and their history seems to start here in the US. The only items connecting back to Poland are the names (most likely misspelled?) of their parents on their marriage certificate and the top picture above.
We have no knowledge of the size of my great-great grandparent's family. So whoever the remaining children in the top picture are will be new to my family tree. I just need to know where to place them in the tree. We do have the names of my great-great grandparents.
My thoughts:
Spoiler
I tend to think that the seated boy in the first picture is my great-grandfather. I think the recessed eyes, the left ear folds and the chin are too similar to be coincidence. I've completely dismissed the other boy.
I'm not sure my great-grandmother is either of the girls. It's tough to tell on the toddler. The toddler's eye brows and jawline could be similar...And who knows, in that era toddlers of both genders were dressed girlishly. The toddler might be a boy...
I don't think the older girl's eyes, hairline or jawline match. My sister-in-law believes the older girl is my great-grandmother.
Everyone one I've shown the picture to has picked either the seated boy or the older girl as one of my great grandparents. It's been split pretty evenly between those two.
What do you guys think? Which child in the first picture is which adult in the second picture? Any help would be appreciated.

You're spot on with the seated boy. Gotta be the same ears.
I don't think the older girl is the same. Really close, but I'm not sure about the mouth or the eyebrows. Also, if you follow the hairline, the little girl's has a convex curve (not sure what this is called) but your great-grandmothers is recessed. Speaking from experience, that changes the way that you start balding. Also, none of the girls in the photo have feet, which your great grandmother clearly does.
