I was just wondering what, if any, meshes out there have natural hair for black heroes?
Do you have a reference pic of what you want? That might help you get some useful suggestions.
I guess I should have put a little more detail into my first post. I don't really have anything in particular. Just wondering what is out there for me to experiment with. Anyway, I was thinking of stuff like dreadlocks, braids, afros, afro mohawks... stuff like that. I'll throw in some examples.

Most of those hairstyles exist so it would be a long list. Afro is all about (first showed up on Parademon Versatile, aka Big-@$$ Fro over at alexsff, but you should run into one here and there wherever you look. Dreads are abound, the best looking for females (imo) is one of the hexable hairstyles on the vx_female mesh. Proper looking braids are on Ink's Moonstar. I have a few braids on some of the various Lanterns (Iroque and Predator come to mind). John Stewart has most universal clean cut African hair imo.
We don't really do " natural " hair though, not where there's individuals hairs but that's rare that any game maker would use the method. So basically look at the hairstyle and using your eyes make the basic geometric shape around it that fits (example: sphere for afro, box for crewcut) and then texture the hair on. There's also the method of using alpha channels to create an optical illusion of individual hairs but that generally only applies to a flat plane and not geometries. I tried this a few times even with a plane and it just looks like junk in FF games so I suggest passing.
Getting to the specific hairstyles you've shown just requires a very small amount of sculpting, most of those just by squishing on bending a sphere. Like the first two for example just squish a sphere until it lays within the meshes cranium just outside the forehead, the third image pinch the sphere along the center vertices only on the top half, move the pinched portion over to one side until it's above the inner cornea of the adjacent eye, pull the opposite side of the sphere forward, down and line up it's innermost and farthest out point with the outer cornea of the eye opposing the previous, the fourth image won't load on my end sorry, for the last just move the sphere into position on the skull dome much like any females bun or ponytail is position, possibly pull down and pinch the vertices circle nearest the head and suck it inside the head itself, though you may find a better effect by skinning the shorter hair.
The curly hairdos can be done with a number of pieces and skinning. The afropuff can be done but skoping an afro hairpiece smaller and placing it on the head. Really this would only take some skinning and skoping to achieve.
There is Female Basic Afro and Tommys TV meshes have an afro hairstyle. Ink did a version of one of the Imperial Guard with something like an afro (she's the one based on Shrinking Violet, if I remember correctly).
I hope y'all don't think me lazy for not doing more research myself, though the only excuse I have is at the time I was feeling rather lazy. My main focus was for female hair because my wife started wearing her hair natural, and I wanted to make a few natural haired characters for her.

I had actually looked at your stuff, but I think I was focused on finding one thing in particular then, so I missed a lot. I'll give them another look. I kind of figured I'd have to try my hand at sculpting. I've been wanting to anyway, and this seems like something simple to start off with. I wasn't necessarily looking for those specific styles (except the frohawk), just giving some examples.

That's what I figured, but I still wanted to ask. I plan on brushing up on my skinning anyway. It's been a few years since I even tried to make a skin, and I was never that great to begin with.

I'll see if I can fins those. Thank you all for the replies.
Renegade's John Stewart 70s and Black Lightning (70s?) both have afros. I think Gni's Matrix Twins have something like dread locks.
Lofting and rays are not really done for FF meshes although you could probably do alpha-enabled planes in layers to get a more natural look.
I believe Tommyboy's "Static" Mesh may have dreads, but I could be wrong. He also has a "Black Lightning" and an "Amazing Man" Mesh.
