Here is another skin/skope I have been working on. Yes it is another WildC.A.T. :D This one went alot better than my Warblade did. It uses a slightly modified Grenadier Hulk mesh skoped by Detourne_Me with horns added on by me from Lord Ehmsidy's Beastman. Used C6 baseskin.

Metro Man from Megamind just for fun. Slightly modified Superman skope from Afghan Ant. Needs fringe on gloves.

You've really improved on this next skin here. I like how he came out.
ShortFuse, may I recommend making just one thread to show all your skins in?
It makes it easier for people to see all the things you've previewed.

Thank. Yes, I have been notified. I will fix the threads into one when I get home. Sorry.
Edit: Fixed
I really hope you make the entire set of Wildcats.

I would need to get a little better at skoping first. Wouldn't you agree? ;)
Seriously though, the rest of the team is available at Laughing Paradox's site. Not sure if I could top his.

Some times its not about "topping" its about making a cohesive set.
I agree with AA about this. It's not about something that's aesthetically better.. which changes from person to person.. it's about you making your own set of characters and using them in the game!
You clearly like the WildCATS, so why not skin the whole group? Just don't touch the Coda. (Kidding!)
Make the team... use my skopes, too, or use them to create even better skopes.
You are right. I put it the wrong way. I did not mean I should try to better his work. Just meant I have a long way to go before I can skope/skin the characters to be at the level of LP and make my Wildcats set complete. I would like to be there someday though. Sorry if I came off as a jerk. That was never my intent.
The only reason I'm pushing for the whole set is I want to see you get better and stick around. We could really use some newbies to liven up the place.
Yup.. and you definitely didn't come off as a jerk... at all! :)
And we all start somewhere.. you should see some of my first skins. Or actually, maybe don't. ;)

Awesome! Been waiting a long while for this one!!!
Thanks guys. Any suggestions for improvement would be greatly appreciated.
In all seriousness man, these are solid first skins. You've got a good handle on doing your edges, most (if not all) of your linework is clean, so these are really good.
About the only thing I'd suggest for now is... well, to put it bluntly, give them their bulge back :P. It's one of my biggest irritants about the original c6 base. If you'd like a corrected version, C6 gave me permission to fix that when I released the base on the TM meshes.
Aside from that... I'd maybe play around with this tutorial (http://frworld.wikispaces.com/skin+highlights+tutorial), as it's a decent enough introduction to highlighting skins. Don't worry about perfecting it or following it to the letter, it's more about playing with things and finding out what works best for you.
Thanks Tomato.
Metroman has been on my list...
...and I'm just as happy to see someone else skin him. And do so well, too!
I really like the Metro Man skin :)
Little update. Added highlights and a few details.

Maul looks great. This is a darn good skin. I like the touches you put in, like veins in his arms and I notice the HLs. The work on the seams looks good, too.
One thing I would recommend are the bands around his knees. Instead of keeping that with the texture of the muscle under it, maybe select that band and use a gradient on it, to make it look like a band that's on top of the pants leg (instead of part of it). Just use the green colors that are already there on the costume and play around with it.
I also want to second Tomato's suggestion about the crotch region. It's a noticeable absence.
This is great stuff. I can't wait to see what else you're considering to do.
Thanks for the tips and compliments, lp. I'm not real happy with the way the leg bands turned out. I will give your suggestion a try. Thanks for clearing the "bulge" Tomato was referring to. I guess I was a little slow on that one.
I like the veins in the muscles - that shows a lot of development in your skinning and added depth.
I don't mind the absence of a "bulge" but for the leg bands, you could skin them from scratch instead of using the base skin (does that make sense?).
I'm on my phone at the moment so I can't easily look it up, but I believe murs made a tutorial or something about making boots that should apply to those bands just as easily.

I think I know which one you are referring to. I'll check it out. Thanks.
I've been enjoying this thread, some nice stuff has been shown here. It's very cool to see Metro Man, any thoughts of skinning Megamind?
Also, if you need it, here is the link to Murs' Tutorial on Skinning Boots: http://frp.unlimited2.net/skinning-tutorial-boots/

I wouldn't be against skinning Megamind, I would probably need someone to skope a mesh for me at this point though. To be honest he wouldn't be a priority right now. Afghan Ant has been kind enough to skope some pieces for me onto the Warblade mesh I have been working on. So once I finish with Maul I'll redo the Warblde skin. Also, AA and I have discussed doing the rest of the Wildcats team, with him skoping the meshes and me skinning them. I look forward to the experience and learning to doing some skopes myself down the road, so hopefully that will be a go. I skinned the Metro Man just for fun. Didn't expect anyone to like it. I guess the only logical thing to do now would be to do a Megamind and a Titan skin. I appreciate all of the positive feedback, suggestions, and help from everyone here. A lot of places you don't get that nowadays. And thanks for the link CB. I will give it a try.
Great to see new skinner, ShortFuse, and you seem to be coming along quite well.
Not really familiar with any of the characters, myself.

AA, as a fellow male, I think you'd notice if yours was absent. Just saying.
To be fair, it's not this horrible horrible thing, but after a decade or so of looking at that base I tend to jump straight to all the flaws in it.
Maul has now regained his manhood and I did a little work on the leg straps. Looking back on some of my source material for him it seemed like the leg straps were actually part of the costume and not something on top of it. I still didn't like the way it looked originally though. I downplayed some of the muscle texture and messed around with it a little and I like it better now. I'm gonna call him done for the time being, unless there is something else you guys would suggest. Time to get to work on Warblade.

Here is what I have so far for Warblade. Thanks to Afghan Ant for skoping on the harness and hoses for me.

Dude this is dope. Huge improvement over the first time. BTW I have some ideas on how to have more edged weapon attacks (sword, axes, claws etc) for skope. Let me know if you are interested.
Heck yeah I'm interested. As well as the ideas you had for Maul.
P.S. Sent you a PM about some refl issues I'm Having with this skope. PM or email me about the other things we discussed.
Cool! The skoped pieces make him look even better.
Shortfuse,
Nice work! Welcome to the team!!
Respectfully,
I finally have finished with Warblade. Here are some shots of him in action. Many thanks to Afghan Ant for his awesome skope.

I like how he came out.. good job on the skin!
Some advice I'd give for your next skin? See how the highlights would look as a brighter shade of the color. So maybe, if the costume is blue, make the highlights a much brighter blue (instead of white), to see how it looks. You'll learn different things when you play around with things like that.
Another thing is to download different lightmaps and test them out. They make the reflection look different and it's always good to find one you like the best.
Thanks for the tips LP. I really appreciate all the help I have gotten from everyone here since joining this forum.
Very nice job on the skin, it turned out great. Also, AA's Skope work never disappoints.

If you are interested in trying out different Lightmaps, I have downloaded quite a few, I have one file alone that has 400 different Lightmaps, they are (.jpg) format, but can easily be converted to (.tga) or (.dds). If you are interested, PM me an E-Mail Address, and I would be glad to send you what I have.
Shortfuse,
That is some really nice work! Keep it up and welcome to the community! :D
I'm loving these Wildcats Shortfuse, can't wait to see who you make next
Hey, these are great, especially for someone who's relatively new to skinning! Your Maul is nice, but the other fellow (whose name escapes me) with the ponytail is really quite great. Really nice work on the details of his mask/hood/whatever.
Custom character: Anvil
(http://hostthenpost.org/uploads/d9d694384a62f7954bb6dc27a3d84753.jpg) (http://hostthenpost.org)
Nice clean design, strong logo. I like it.
Original characters are always nice to see, and yours is quite nice. The only suggestion that I would make would be to clean up the area on the lower part of the feet, otherwise, nice work.
Nice work on the shiny 'A' logo, ShortFuse! I always have trouble with those, so it's always a treat to see it done right.
Void. Pretty simple, not much to her. Aura and lens flares added with Photoshop for effect.
(http://hostthenpost.org/uploads/c263260c397a6e35268f4d82265b90fe.jpg) (http://hostthenpost.org)
Invisible Woman. This is how she appears in game.

Very nice Invisible Woman!!
The Invisible Woman is very well executed. Great job Short Fuse.
While the Invisible Woman is no doubt the more accomplished skin, I really like the Void. I don't know why exactly, but that is just a really nice, clean design. She reminds me a bit of the Silverhawks.
Very nice skins ShortFuse, the Invisible woman looks great and I really like Anvil's logo.
Thanks guys.
Nice job on presenting the Void, ShortFuse! She's got an ethereal quality to her.
Void looks way cool. I like how the Invisible Woman came out, too. Smart use of the alpha layer with her.
WIP skin of Shaft from Youngblood.

That is VERY well done.
That's a good job there on Shaft.
It looks really nice ShortFuse.
Very nice work on the lines and shadows ShortFuse. My only suggestion would be to Skope on some of the extra pouches and shoulderpads, and all the other '90's cliché add-ons that Image Comics was famous for.

It's funny you mention that CB. I was going to hit you up and see if you would be interested in doing that for me. ;)
As long as it's not a problem that it might take a bit (I've got 2 papers, a test, and a few other school projects over the next 2 weeks), I would gladly lend a hand.
Thanks. You will get no rush for me. I'll get with you later with some ideas. Also working on a Badrock that could use some shoulder pads a la Liefield.
Totally think you should skope on pouches and some hair. I think Ink's Smasher would be perfect.

I had been debating between using the hair from Ink's "Black Tom" Mesh and his "Nightwing_V2" Mesh. But his "Smasher" isn't a bad choice either.
Lousy Liefield, makes it difficult when he draws every pic different. :banghead:
Badrock from Youngblood. Used Thing_REN mesh. Resized mesh to almost twice the size. BIG thanks to Cyber Burn for skoping on the shoulder armor that he got from Male_Hulking_Blok from Gren.

Cool skin! I like the metallic texture of the shoulder armor.
Excellent job on the face. The eyes really seem to pop.
Nice job SF.
Keep on working through that Image universe! I really dig how Badrock came out. The face looks cool.
Just a bump, but have you released any of these awesome skins ShortFuse?

Thanks for the interest. I really don't have a place to put these on and I am trying to avoid Yahoo groups. The only ones that are currently available are the two Punisher Payback and Hitman skins I did for CB, and they are at his Yahoo group. Although, if there is something anyone is interested in I can sent it to them. I have slowly been working on a few more skins, but it seems life keeps getting in the way.
