Well, after more than 2 years being together and more than 3 months living together me and my girl have decided to jump the broom. I'm finally going to break the final frontier, marriage. I'm nearly 40 years old and I figure it's high time for me to settle down. I've been around the block more than a few times...and I'm tired. It's time to cash in my chips and hand over my jersey. Am I crazy? Who knows...only time will tell. My oats are well past sown(to the point of...blah). I'm throwing in the towel. It's gonna go down December 27 on Hainan Island. Anyone from FR who wants to come is welcome....heck if any of you actually do show up I'll pay for the hotel.
Yes....the earlier incident has all been sorted out and there is peace in thalaw2 house....for now.
Well, congrats Thalaw!
Congratulations! I hope the two of you are very happy together.
Congratulations, Thalaw! What magnificent news!
Congratulations man! I just got engaged too!
I'm also probably the only FR'er close enough to go to your wedding....hmm never been to Hainan before!
Seriously though, congratulations again!
You may be crazy, but what does that have to do with it?
Congradulations, much happiness, and remember: She's always right.
Congratulations!

This.
From someone who got married this summer after five years, heartfelt congratulations to you and your future wife. Well, more to you, because you're the lucky one, not her. ;)
Congratulations, man! Awesome news.
From the title, I was very curious what the Harry Potter thread was going to be about. This is even better. :-)
Thanks for all the well wish FR family. I just got back from the American consulate in Shanghai to get my eligibility for marriage papers (basically it just means you gotta pay $50 for people to witness you sign your name a document swearing you're not married in the US. Making an appointment was pointless as I had to wait nearly an hour to be called. I thought they were going to at least do a background check. The Chinese citizens waiting in line to do the interview for a visa to the US was moving much faster and was even finished by the time i got my stamps of approval).
Anyway, now the real fear sets in as it looks like this might actually go down. With getting married causing me so much anxiety I think I'll need an oxygen tank nearby if I ever have any kids. Better make that N2O heheheeheh.

Congratulations to you too! Do you have to do the eligibility document in Korea? Just curious.
Yeah I think it's the same process, I'll need an eligibility document too. Then after a while of being married I'll be able to upgrade my visa too. The same for you?
Major Congrats, man!
Congratz!

Are you two marrying each other without knowing it?

You might be on to something....but no.
 :thumbup:I honestly feel like I'm making the right decision. Day by day I have fewer and fewer doubts...despite getting to know her family...................and her getting to know mine...hahahaahahaha!
Yeah, out of the two of us, I got the best deal on the in-laws.
Don't do it!! Just don't do it!! Run the other way, man! RUN!!!
Okay now that that's done, I guess congrats are in order...not sure though....
Congrats man. You make it sound like it's the end, but it's the beginning. Don't forget to post pic!
It is done. It was quite unceremonious. We to a couple of offices to get official documents and that was that. Neither of us had to say any vows...instead we had to read (not aloud) and sign a statement in front of a notary official. The whole process took a couple of hours and that was just because the official made a mistake on one of the documents and we had to do everything over again.
A couple of her friends came for a small dinner (4 people) and now maybe the two of us will go walk around and then buy something to drink. I just feel that getting married is an occasion for a drink...a good stiff drink.
Thus, begins my life as a married man. Not with roar, but with a..I don't want to say whimper, but I can't think of anything else. Someone use a dictionary and help me out.
Congrats on becoming a married man. Marriage has certainly had it's ups and downs for me, but I think that I've become a better person for it. As to your nuptials, realistically, I've been to big extravagant weddings, and I've been to small simple ceremonies, as long as the two of you are happy with each other, at the end of the day, that's all that really matters.
Congratulations. It will be 13 years for me in a couple of days. Just remember she IS always right.
Way to exit 2013 and enter 2014 then. * throws belated rice, it's a tad chewy but still yummy *
I think the word your looking for is maybe sublime, choosing the definition " lofty, grand, or exalted in thought, expression, or manner". Like Cyber Burn is saying the eventfulfulness is actually a moot point regardless of the direction it's woven, rather your life choice is what matters here. Excessive pageantry is under the surface garish and second place to the point of union anyways.
Much happiness to you and yours in your new adventure.
