Title: Built in Characters and instance adjustment. Help Fellas!!
Post by: Jimaras8 on June 01, 2013, 01:43:20 PM
Hey gurus i need you help in two technical issues.Ok lets gooo!

1: Make custom characters buitl in for a specific mod ONLY. I will clarify. Lets say i have Benton uber-super DCUG and i have created a custom nightwing( btw Benton why didnt you make a Nightwing for the mod? Not fan of him?) and i make him buitl in with RR add to Dat command. However if i do that that makes him built in for the game including all mods. So if i run Marvel Adventures he will be built in too and having a Nightwing along Spidey is...er, pretty weird. So how i make certain custom characters built in for certain mods only?

2 Max instances on animation. I have noticed that certain ranged animations have number of instances below animation time at in game editor. For example if i issue my hero a shuriken power and have an animation with 3 instances he throws 3 shurikens. But you already knew that didnt you ? Anyway, can i adjust the number of instances per animation. Say i have a nice ranged animation for a rad beam but it has three instances although i want my hero to fire one beam only. Is that possible?

3 Bonus question: Is Avengers assemble that bad ;)?

Howdy Jim.  Nope, I'm not a fan of Nightwing.  The stories of his journey from Robin to the new identity always rubbed me the wrong way.  I think I put Red Robin in there, which was supposed to be the grown up Grayson, but I may not have done that yet.

If you use the "Add to Dat" RR mode, the character will ONLY be added to the .dats of the mod you are currently running.  However, if you created a herofile to do so, that herofile will still be there and will show up in all mods.  So, after you add a character, make sure to delete the herofile.

Yes, you can definitely adjust the number of instances.  Here is a tutorial on how to do it:

Haha, nicely done Spyder.  Yeah, the simplest way to add a character is using EZHero, but I prefer the RR mode because it adds strings.txt entries for you and all you have to do is fill them out.  That's convenient for mod makers, but less important for everybody else.

I actually never knew that.

That will make it a lot easier to implement hero files! :P

Thx for the rapid responses guys. So add to dat only sends to the mods dat file. Well then iwas mistaken. Yeah Benton i fully understand the dislike for certain hero chapters. Still cant quite accept Morales as spider man and its not because he is black, he just isnt Spider for me. Guess 50 years of Pete cant be erased so easily.

Haha, yep.  Occasionally new heroes can win me over, but they usually face an even steeper challenge than they would normally because the stories told to introduce them are almost universally reprehensible.  *looks at poor Ray Palmer and Ryan Choi*
