Title: Request: Generic Football Player
Post by: daglob on March 30, 2013, 07:45:48 PM
Pretty much what it says. Something with built-in pads, a realistic helmet, maybe with correct animations.

Then we will need a football FX...

I made a football fx, here:

It is named core.nif, and can be used to generate an fx in ffedit, but it is basically just a football shape with a skin, it could be skoped I am sure.

A Football FX would be pretty cool to use with DC's "Sportsmaster" as well. Thanks Bearded.  :D

Have you had any luck skoping fx? I seem to get a game crash when I try, and I can't find any good fx tutorials for max. I would like to make a flash afterimage using something like the starfire flying fx type, but I can't get the settings right.

Bearded: I am going to assume that this is for the original Freedom Force, is that right? I've never messed with, or used, the Flying FX before, but if you still have my E-Mail, feel free to send me what you have, and I'd be glad to take a look at things. (If you don't have my E-Mail, let me know, and I'll PM it to you)

Daglob: If you're interested, I can set up an FX for the Football as well, just let me know what you want for it.

It would just be a projectile effect. Leave right hand, I guess. Still need the football player...

I'm making a player for you. Separate helmet piece then sculpting the body. Still struggling with ickness so it'll take me a little longer than usual. Odd lack of stock 3d models when it comes to American football I noticed, wonder why that is? I'd think given the commonality and popularity I'd be able to find them on every site. I sat and played the old Madden title for N64 last night to try and give me an idea how the body should be shaped (since it's low poly of course and I'll be working the same way).

Personally I'd go with a football as a level object. There's a basketball like that, in FFX I think? I'm pretty sure I used it as a base for an object or two. Anyways I'd think the idea would be to play with the actual. I think you would use " triggers? " to run a campaign like this? I'm real weak in that area though so I dunno.

A generic american football player mesh?

Why do I have a feeling someone is gonna feel the urge to skin this long forgotten Marvel hero..  :P

Done but the helmet. I sculpted a male basic so it looks like a typical NFL uniform. The helmet will be a little taxing. I can assume your going to want to have a few of these on screen at the same time so it needs to be low poly. That gets difficult when dealing with spherical shapes (especially one that needs two holes punched through the sides). I used the keyframes from INK's Wonderman as they're spot on for a football player. Might change the idle to the standard mb one. Also considering bring in the 4th ranged animation from Gren's Zivon (sans the spear of course) as I think it looks perfect for a pass. Tell me what you think daglob.

I can do a helmet. Isn't there a Beyonder keyframe that is a very basic kick?

Finished a generic football player. Added to the embellishments/mods page.

good helmet! How did you do the wiring?

Do you mean the faceguard or the helmet? I used an old freeware cad as a base for the helmet and tweaked it a lot (overabundance of polys). I made the faceguard by using a ring from INK's gypsy for a nice low poly torus, duplicated it a few times and moved the vertices where they needed to be.

That's a good idea about the kick. Any idea what mesh it might have been? I see a good selection of them on the Gorgon mesh. Thinking of making a v.2 today right away as well as adding a second body that's beefier in addition to the average scaled one.

The kick I am thinking of is the az keyframes.

Tay. I found some on Gren's Shredder and another nice area move there. Gorgon's caused portion issues. Updated to v.2, uploading to the site, should be ready in a minute.

Started making a Football throw FX for FF1 (It should work for FFvt3R too), but I'm having an issue where the "Start.Nif" isn't playing nice. It wants to keep a Football in my hand at all times. I'll probably ditch the "Start.Nif" and see how that goes. Tomorrow though...Sleep now.

I've got the Football FX finished for FF1 (Should work for FFvt3R as well though). I included instructions on how to set it up in FFEdit (Just the FX, not the Sounds). Would anyone like to give this a try and give me some feedback? Maybe, let me know what changes could be made for improvement?
