Title: The Classical Blood-Sucker
Post by: spydermann93 on December 20, 2012, 08:35:08 PM
Hello,

I'm in a bit of need of assistance here. I'm trying to create a vampire character that is immune to the damage of crushing and piercing attacks, but still affected by stuns and knockback. Does anybody have an idea as to how one would go about this?

my suggest is to change material of character from flesh to rubber, i use this for my vampires, so they are vulnerable to fire to.
rubber is highly resistant to piercing and crushing and don't sound to strange when the character is hit.
you can add solid skeleton if you want more resistance vs crushing.
all of this don't change the possibility of knockback and stun but also don't give 100% of immunity.

In reading TaskmasterX's old FFVTTR_Marvel_and_DC_RPG_to_FF_Conversion guide, he mentions that being resistant to a damage type also makes them more resistant to stunning from the same type.  I was thinking that maybe you could try the Glass Jaw attribute:
QuoteA character with this attribute stands a chance of being stunned whenever they take damage, whether the attack has a normal stun component or not.

It's not perfect, but at least it will reduce the resistance to stun offered by giving your vampires Solid Skeleton and Armored for resistance to crushing and piercing.

I don't know the percentage of time "a chance of being stunned" equates to or if TMX's statement about resistance to stun only holds true for the original game.

As far as knockback is concerned, I believe the main factors involved are the strength and knockback magnitude of the attacker along with the weight of the character being hit. I don't know if the victim's relative strength or endurance has anything to do with resisting knockback. Let us know if any of this helps out.

Thanks for your help, you guys. I think I found the "proper" solution to these vampires. I got them to be highly resistant to physical attacks by making them Stone (thanks for your suggestion in changing the material, having me realize that highly resistant would work like a charm) with Solid Skeleton and made them weak to heat with Heat Sensitive. They also possess the Immortal attribute, making them pretty hard to kill with punches and knives.

And hoss, the knockback isn't too back with the vampires. I reduced their weight in the Hero Editor to make them a bit lighter, but not to where other attacks send them skyrocketing. I tried glass-jaw, but they were stunned far too easy, so I just left them as is.

But thanks to you both for your help.

This is where I wish Freedom Force had a resistance/invulnerability slider rather than using attributes. haha

Honestly, when I do vampires I just make them Wood.

I mean, you wont have much luck punching them or stabbing them, but they are still pretty vulnerable to fire, and while Batman or Captain America would have a hard time punching them out, they still wouldnt have much of a chance against the Hulk smacking them around.

But then, in my builds, while vampires have superhuman physical abilities, their real power come from their supernatural abilities. Hypnotizing, flight, weather control, etc.
