Not sure if I'm double posting, but I back tracked some and didn't see a similar thread. Has anyone else read this? I've gone through most of them, and I was struck at what a neat story it was compared to many other plots out there these days.
I mean, I like a good dystopian story as much as the next guy, but when mainstream comics are too hoo-humm, and Ennis' "Crossed" is beyond TOO MUCH (holy cow, what is that guy smoking?), this seems to have found a good rhythm. Looking forward to going through the rest of the story.

Yes, (facepalm)...Mark Waid. That's a beer foul on my part.
I really liked it. Especially the first twenty issues. And while I appreciate the fact that its a finite story, you really had to keep up with Waid's Incorruptible for the last third. So be prepared to get that series too if you want the full story.
Overall, I think that these two books are quite a landmark in indie comics. They take the standard sequential superhero genre and turn it into a contained story with a beginning, middle and end. I think Waid definitely deserves all the praise he gets..... And I can't wait for the next issue of Daredevil!
I liked this series too. I enjoyed the initial premise, 'what if Superman went evil?' but also the exploration of just how different the Plutonian really was to make him go that way.
Exactly. You want to feel sorry for him when you see how terrible things had gone for him (I'm not all the way done with the series just yet), but you can't when you see the scope of his rage, and the results for so many other people...."how do you keep secrets from a guy who can hear tomatos grow?"
I've read the first TPB of "Incorruptible" as well. Been waiting for it (and the last vol or so of Irrdemable) to go digital for my Nook.
It was a nice compare contrast of the DC universe and its heroes/villians, but was still original in its own right.
I felt Waid wrapped up Irredeemable waaaay to quickly (I think he said it was due to his workload) and the concept turned out to be more compelling than the end product. The ending was disappointing similar to All-Star Superman.
While I haven't read through to the end, I've heard the same thing said from others. Too bad. It's an amazing concept.
