Gren_71 checking in on this net after many, many moons away! Good to see it still up and alive.
I was wondering if you were still alive and mostly sane.
Alive yes. Mostly sane....mostly.
Life is good in a more relaxed assignment, the family is fine, and the kids keep growing. I have a garden, am planning on raising chickens, and have started writing again. No complaints my friend.
Heya Grendal, welcome back.
The return of another master! Welcome back. :)
Glad to see you poke your virtual nose in here!
Here's hoping you'll be able to stick around :)
Praise indeed from the Admin, Stumpy. Thanks for the welcome, it is warmly appreciated.
You my boy Blue! (Yeah, like you never, ever hear that mess). Good to see you man!
Here's hoping we have lots and lots of writing collaboration ahead of us, guy. My initial thoughts are that with the tougher duty stations behind me for the time being, and with the little ones getting some years and autonomy to them, that FR interactions, and frustrated attempts at writing ficiton are in my future. (plus daily PT, garden activity, honey-do's, etc etc).
Welcome back to the community, man!
Hello Grendal, welcome back and all that noise. Before I can personally accept you as a trustworthy and acceptable member of these boards, I require the answer to one question:
Will you swear fealty to the Pony overlords, or must I reduce your body to ash?
Hmm, how best to answer that one. Well, I can say that the two "rescue" ponies occupying the back pasture of my property are lording over quite a bit of my time and money. The wife and offspring enjoy riding them, and while we got them for next to nothing (poor animals had been horribly abused), their upkeep and required infrastructure eat up a good chunk of our resources. Yes, I love the wife and offspring, so I endure. At some point, I'm going to build a small chicken coop for myself to either live in, or get some egg laying hens. If the neighbors continue to vex me, I'll get a rooster too. See if I don't.
But I digress.....
On the upshoot, the poop from those two over-sized dogs makes lovely composte, so my spring and fall vegetable gardens have done quite well. One thing is for sure, #@#%%^ things never stop eating or pooping.
All that said, while I may not bend the knee, my spare cash, spare time, and spare (limited) sanity seem to be dedicated to those two.......ponies. Good enough, "Zoomie 'Mater"?
...
Eh, close enough. You may survive... for now. But I'll be keeping an eye on you sir.
Fair enough Tomato, and if you need garden composte, let me know. I've got more than I know what to do with....I spend all day shoveling figurative poop around at work, but am happiest when I'm shoveling the real stuff around in the composte pile(s). Lord, I know that must make me all kinds of weird.
A very belated, but nonetheless entirely sincere, welcome back to the fold Grends. Can I call you Grends? Perhaps I can, but is it wise? Grendal then, great to see threading the boards once more.
Very kind, PE, very kind indeed! You may call me anything you like.
I'm used to answering to all sorts of monikers, to include the profane two-syllable type, the ones that question my intelligence, patronage, and genetic disposition, so I doubt there is much you can say, good friend, that would hurt my feelings.
Thanks for the welcome back, and I'm glad to see you still kicking around here as well! I'm working on the loosening up the writing muscles, and hope to begin contributing again to the fanfic forums. I just posted a new piece of writing there the other day, in fact.

I suspect calling you late for dinner would be the one thing he couldn't get away with.
