QuoteGuillermo del Toro To Helm A DC Movie Featuring SWAMP THING, DEADMAN, ZATANNA And More
It sounds as if it's a long way off, but Pacific Rim director Guillermo del Toro is apparently in negotiations with Warner Bros. to bring a supernatural version of The Avengers to the big screen featuring the likes of The Spectre, Phantom Strange, Sargon and more! Read on for details.

Our friends over at Latino-Review have just broken one hell of a story. According to the site, Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pacific Rim) will soon begin work on a DC Comics adaptation for Warner Bros. called Heaven Sent, and it will bring together some of the most well-known supernatural characters from that comic book universe, including:
• Deadman
• The Spectre
• Swamp Thing
• Constantine Hellblazer
• Phantom Stranger
• Zatanna
• Zatara
• Sargon
• Etrigan the Demon
That's the list the site has and it seems to cover that area of the DC Universe very nicely (a shame that there's no mention of Animal Man though...). Warner's lawyers are currently hard at work on making sure they have the rights to bring each of these characters to the big screen, and while it's a project which is likely still a good few years away, but it's definitely not too early to start getting excited about this ambitious project!
No one excited about this?
I think it's a really interesting, if potentially unwieldy idea - barring an Avengers-style build up (which they won't get) these characters are a big bag of weird and crazy, and potentially very difficult to do justice in a single movie. Here's hoping things work out!

YES!Hellboy 2 was so well done, and these comics are also good. The magic part of the DC universe is right up Del Toro's alley.
I have extremely high hopes for this.
Hmm....well, I'm sorta' not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, I love del Toro. he's a fantastic director, and the Hellboy movies are excellent. I also like several of those characters. On the other hand, as others have said, this is a very unwieldy concept, and it has a lot of obstacles to ending up as a good, coherent whole. Plus, while I enjoy many of those characters, it is within certain contexts that I like them. What's more, there are also a few characters on that list that I don't care for at all.
I think if DC could get their freaking acts together, a movie like this would be a great growth out of an established universe. As is, I don't know what to think...though, I would totally go see a Phantom Stranger movie, all by his lonesome.
Hoping Doctor Fate will make an appearance in this film.
