Title: Greenlighting Worthy Games
Post by: BentonGrey on September 18, 2012, 07:31:53 PM
Howdy gents, have those of y'all on Steam noticed their "Greenlight" project?  Steam is letting users vote for which games they will sponsor and release.  Here is another chance to help worthwhile concepts get made and get exposed to larger audiences.  I thought I'd post some of the games that I thought were most noteworthy.  Take a look at them, and if you can see the potential, give them a vote and help them get selected!

Age of Decadence: Don't let the title fool you, this looks like a really neat game.  It's an RPG set in a Roman-esq world at the end of an age of empire and stability.  It's low magic, but partial fantasy.  It looks quite interesting.

Underrail: A neat post-apocalyptic RPG in the classic style of Fallout.

Contrast: This one has a really neat gameplay concept, the ability to slip in and out of the shadows, literally!  You move about a 1920's world, but you can also slip into the shadows that fill its backgrounds.  If you change the lights and objects in the real world, it can radically transform the landscape of the shadow world.  That seems pretty interesting to me.

Sang-Froid: Last, but far from least, this is the one I'm actually most interested in.  It's something of a tower defense game, but with a number of other elements...which is good, 'cause I don't care much for tower defense games.  It's something like Orcs Must Die's big brother.

Kenshi: Here's one that's already made the cut, a cool free-roaming game that is something akin to 7 Samurai meets Mad Max, meets Fallout.

Well the one I was really thrilled about (see my Project Zomboid post from a couple of weeks ago) got approved!

That said I had an eye on Sang-Froid, it looks really cool, and a bunch of others. I'm happy about project greenlight, I mostly just play indy and small games these days. For example in the last few days I've put a stupid amount of hours into FTL.

Whoops, I missed that post about Zomboid!  Cool Lu, I'm glad some of the other FR folks are supporting good games.  It is really neat to be able to encourage innovation rather than be forced into choosing between various derivative more-of-the-same titles.

What else has caught your eye?

Cool DM, I'll have to keep an eye out for that one!
