Title: help- keyframes for smaller meshes
Post by: ShawDAMAN on August 28, 2012, 12:02:53 AM
sorry if this needs to be in another thread or has been addressed before, but...

Question:

I am mostly a nifskope noob but I figured out how to reduce the size of meshes pretty easily. However, the keyframes for the size-reduced meshes now are (understandably) not working properly. They still execute the animations, but in fast-forward mode (corresponding to the degree to which the mesh was shrunk). Which of course looks ridiculous  :P

So, does anyone know how to get the keyframes to compensate so this doesn't happen?

Thanks a lot for any help!

I think you might need to give a bit more information before we can help.

-How exactly are you reducing the size? There are a few methods and the issue could be related to the specific one you're using.
-Can you show an example of the fast forward thing, or describe it in more detail?

 Sorry. Didn't realize there was more than one method of reducing the size.

Well there was an older FF mesh of ultimate Thor that I thought was too large so I just wanted to shrink it a little.

I did it by opening the mesh in nifskope, right clicking "0 NiNode Scene Root" in the 'block list,' (which I guess includes the mesh in it's entirety which is what I wanted- not just to reduce certain parts) then clicking transform/edit and reducing the scale by a couple points. from 1.0000 to 0.8000.

Then I saved the mesh, opened it in FFVTR, (I had already converted it using eznifconvert- worked fine) and the mesh was nicely reduced and looked good in every way, but when walking/running or engaging in other animations, the animations were sped up drastically... looked like a video on fast-forward. That's the only way I know how to explain it.

Mk, well, I unfortunately don't have time to do any real testing (I've got to leave for work) to make sure, but I'm fairly certain your issue is that you're resizing the wrong node: You need to resize the "handle" node, not "Scene Root."

Edit: maybe not. Send it to mygreyhulk100@hotmail.com, I'll try to take a look at it later.

You shouldn't have doubted yourself, as I tried your initial suggestion, and now it works like a treat.  Many thanks for your expert analysis!

Ok, that works then.

Not all meshes have a handle node (celestials). Can I create one, or copy from another mesh?
