Aw crud...

... he was one of the big reasons why I'll always have a thing for DC over Marvel.  The heroes who didn't wear capes.  His work with GI Combat with Sgt. Rock and the Haunted Tank and Star Spangled War Stories with the Unknown Soldier is some of my favorite stuff.  Still reading the Unknown Soldier Showcase... it'll be bittersweet now.

Very sad day.  :(

Some of the comics my dad used to buy after work and bring home to me were DC's Tarzan/Tarzan Family comics (with a lot of Kubert art)...I used to love those...RIP Mr Kubert.

Paper wise I'm a Marvel fan...but in all other forms of media (especially radio drama) I'm a DC fan.  RIP.

He was working pretty much up to the end and hadn't lost much of his edge.  Rest in Peace.

The man drawn almost everything, form JSA and Hawkman to Tarzan and he was always great. And he was a teacher to new artists too.
He will be missed.

He was a living legend and one of the nicest, most humble creators that I ever had the honor to shake hands with (at a Con so it was moving through the line, but still a sweet guy).  Reminded me a lot of my grandfather. RIP, Joe.
