Title: Nifskope for MacBook Air?
Post by: AfghanAnt on August 09, 2012, 11:11:44 PM
So I have a MacBook Air and while I don't usually work on FF stuff on it with my Windows Laptop DOA, I really wanted to finishing skoping some of my meshes while I wait for my new computer. Anyway, have any clue if this exist? I downloaded something that says it would work but didn't.

You can either go the full virtualisation route (Using Parallels Desktop or VMWare Fusion; Parallels is the better program for 3D, but the company's marketing tactics are very annoying). The other potential solution is to use a WINE-based solution such as Crossover.

Using Parallels v.6 with Win 7 on a 2007 iMac, NifSkope seems to be working fine. The only potential issue I could see is the integrated video card on the MacBook Air.

Thanks for the information but that sounds a little out of my comfort-zone with my Mac. I'll just wait for my new PC to be delivered. :D

Actually, if you ever feel like trying virtualisation, it's pretty straightforward:

1. Install Parallels.
2. Feed it your Windows disk.

That sounds easier but one thing, Macbook Air don't have CD drives. Thanks for all the help though.

Pretty good point! Unless you happen to have another computer or an external drive, it ndeed becomes rather complicated to install "legacy" software.
