That is still being reported? She turned down the role and it is now being offered (and I believe accepted) by some Russian actress who is unknown here in the US. Biel reportedly said that she had no idea why it was being reported that she was offered the role.
I didn't know that they was making another Wolverine movie.
Of course they are making a Wolverine 2. Most people may have disliked the original Wolverine movie but the sad fact is that Fox made money off it so they are going to continue the franchise.
Ehhh... I'm probably going to give this movie a bit more credit then it really deserves, but bear in mind that this is actually the Wolverine movie they wanted to make from the beginning. No one, and I mean NO ONE wanted to do Wolverine's origin. The director, the actors, basically everyone involved has admitted that the plan was originally to do the japan stuff, and the studio came back and said "No, you have to do his origin! Fans want to see an origin movie despite most of the details being laid out in X2! Duhr!"
Thus, we ended up with "X-men Origins: Wolverine" which not only poorly retells his origin story (X2 did a better job of it, for the most part) but also serves to cram at least 3 potential X-men films into our faces and do a rather bad job with all of them (Barakapool was... well, not deadpool; First class ended up being NOTHING like what Wolverine set up; and a wolverine sequel no one wanted to see after watching the crummy first movie). In some ways, it fits the same mold as Spiderman 3... instead of letting the creative team do what they wanted, the studio pushed its own vision and the movie really suffered for it.
However, with most of the spin offs either firmly established (First Class) or stuck in development hell (Deadpool), and with the origin finally out of the way, Wolverine 2 offers a hell of a lot more potential then it's predecessor... whether that occurs is still up in the air, but it's got a lot more going for it.
The only thing I didn't like about the first Wolvie movie was Deadpool. "He was done some wrong!" Serious wrong. Other than that I thought it was a good watch.
See, I'm of two minds... on the one hand, I actually did like the first Wolverine... and unlike X3, I can actually watch the whole thing in a sitting without having to leave the room and collect myself. But I also can see the flaws in it too, and it's worse because I've read what it was supposed to be like before they changed portions of it to set up all the side projects.
Maybe because I'm getting old that changes in a hero doesn't bother me anymore. When they make a movie about a hero I expect changes because the movie people are never going to get it right. The fanboy in me goes crazy, but it has become so often that it seems normal.
I think Jey is right.....I'm old! I didn't expect the first Wolvie to be Cannon. There is so much to go off of since the character first appeared that I really had no expectations beyond some good fight scenes and one liners. And it delivered. I don't like Wolvie's "origin" anyway. It was better when it was unknown.
Personally, I'd like the sequal to show the transition from loner to Alpha Flight to the X-Men.
First pic from the movie:

Is it real or CGI? (talking about the muscles)
I'd say that pic might have been enhanced slightly (either by lighting or by a bit of photo doctoring), but not by that much... Hugh Jackman is an INCREDIBLY built person. He was about the same for XMO Wolverine, and they talk about in the extras that he spends some ungodly amount of time working out for this role. He takes the role of wolverine very seriously.
"Dreadpool" aside, I thought the first Wolverine movie stunk to high heaven. With all the character changes, the X3-like cramming of as many mutants as possible and Logan's origin story alterations...I just thought it was an ugly mess of a movie.

First trailer is up. (http://screenrant.com/the-wolverine-trailer/)
There have been several hints dropped that someone from the original X-men trilogy would be coming in for a cameo, and I think it's safe to say that's Jean Grey at this point... but whether she'll be more then a hallucination/flashback is still questionable. "The Wolverine" takes place after X3, and I suspect the intention is that it be the first step towards rebuilding the damage X3 caused to the characters and to the franchise.

I was under the impression that it would take place after Origins. If it's as you say, I'm becoming less interested.

Good for him. I can respect that.

Ummmm... why? The movie itself will have very little to do with the X-men regardless (the trailer clearly depicts him as having broken all ties with them) so the only real difference is that he'll be moping about jean's death rather then moping about his missing memories. I'd rather they use this movie to tie those plotlines off before the DoFP movie comes out, so that DoFP can focus on building the rest of the franchise back up.

Interesting but I really really don't care for the depowering aspect. So much that my intial enthuisasm is cooled quite a bit but I guess we'll see.

Me neither. On the other hand the trailer has me extremely stoked. I feel like they're putting more effort into making this movie good after the first Wolverine underperformed. I actually don't remember if it did underperform but that sounds like something that might be true.
I agree about the depowering business...but it does trend with the "cure" psycho-babble that has been going around lately about conditions that are natural.

Silver Samurai sure seems sweet!
I liked this movie. It's far better than the XMO:W garbage pail. Not the most exciting movie by any stretch, but definitely worthwhile.
Stay after some credits.
I saw it over the weekend and I liked it. Better than the previous Wolverine attempt I think.
Spoiler
Logan's claws getting chopped off really shocked me. Especially since he didn't get the metal claws restored by the end.
Was happily surprised that Mariko survived the film. I thought for sure they'd kill her, but I was really hoping they wouldn't. She's always been my preferred love interest for Wolverine.
I don't mind a bit of a love triangle between Logan/Jean/Scott but when it goes to far in the Logan/Jean side it really grates me.
I've never cared for Yukio in the comics but I really liked her in this film. Loved her outfits. I'd love to see another movie with her as Logan's sidekick.
So, anyone else seen this one? I'm debating going to see it.

Yeah, I'm debating whether to go see this or to buy the new JL: Flashpoint DVD.
Just saw both... Wolverine, no contest. Wolverine has some odd plot points near the end, but the after-credits scene alone is worth the price of admission. The story is actually really well done... far superior than its counterpart. At least until a really bizarre final boss fight, but even that was at least cool to watch, even if the whole time you're just going "Wait, wtf?"
Just saw the Wolverine today, and I was pleasantly surprised. It was vastly superior to both X-men Origins: Wolverine and X-men 3, and actually pretty good.
Spoiler
Not to mention that post-credit scene, gently hosing some of the mess of X-men 3 off the sidewalk, and doing a little set-up for Days of Future Past. Awesome.
Dammm go movie.
must see BG, and i am not a Wolverine fan
I saw The Wolverine this weekend and really urge you guys to see it. A lot better than I expected... I was afraid since they wrote all of the charm that Hugh Jackman had brought to the character out of him in the first movie. Also the first movie had floaty fights that did not feel right. You know, too much CGI and wirework.
As for the sequel I was surprised at how it just hits the ground running and has close to zero exposition. They really assume you know both the comics and the X-Men movies. The cinematography is pretty good and overal the plot is good, very in keeping with the X-Men movies... different but faithful.
Wow, y'all weren't kidding, were you? This was a really fun movie. It's definitely the third or fourth best X-film, leagues ahead of the first Wolverine movie, and pulling ahead of X-3 on the basis of being a lot more consistent and polished. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had a great story, nicely adapting some of the best Wolverine tales, while also doing something somewhat new. The wife and I saw it last night, and I am really glad I got a chance to watch this flick before it left theaters. Jackman did a pretty nice job, and the action as pretty good, though they did rely a bit too heavily on shakey-cam. At least it wasn't utterly infuriating or distracting, like the train-wreck that was Elysium. All-in-all, I'm just darn impressed that they managed to tell a story that I could enjoy so unreservedly. In fact, while The Wolverine didn't reach the highs of First Class, it also didn't have the missteps of that more ambitious movie. Speaking of, I'm getting excited for Days of Future Past.
After watching this flick, I want to get some Hand Ninjas into the rumble room and let Wolverine tear them apart.
So, was the doctor an actual character from comics?
I'm assuming you're referring to Viper... yes and no. She IS in the comics, but they completely revamped her and gave her mutant powers she never had in the comics.
Ahh, that's what I figured. Well, I don't much care for that. I'm sure there was a character that did what they wanted.
Still, that's a minor quibble.
Again with the necropost. Finally saw this today as well, and was pleasantly surprised.
It came on HBO last night. Mrs. refuses to see it because she feels that they didn't need another movie. I'm going to watch it just to see what's all the talk is about.
By no means do I feel that this was a perfect Wolverine movie, it definitely had its flaws, but it was enjoyable. The characters were written much better in this one than they were the last one.
Just finish watching it and it was ok. It wasn't the best but it was enjoyable for the most part. I do have one question:
Spoiler
Was "Viper" suppose to be the same viper from Hydra? She dressed the same or was just a nod to the fans like the boy wearing the Spidey hat?
Im just gona go ahead and say that Wolverin anime adapted(i use the term loosley) the story better.

I think she was just a modified version created to suit the needs of the movie.
