Title: FF1&FF2 Edit
Post by: hmarrs on May 23, 2012, 03:28:26 PM
Guys I am super bummed out :(
After a few years of not Freedom Forcing.
I just bumped the game back on.However I can't get my FFedit 1 to work or FFedit 2.
I am not using a CPU that has Windows & where as before I was using XP.
I have put the Patch on not sure which one because someone told me 1.3 has issues as opposed to 1.2.
Anyway when I I try to use FFedit on and go to level edit. The game tell me that Freedom Force  :ff:has stopped working.
It then shuts down.
ALso when I go to  :ff:and I try to click on any of the Dangerrooms the game locks up and freezes.

Okay move ahead...
I download FFVT3R :ffvstr:
I then Load the FFEDIT which I really don't know my way around it so much.
I have however gotten as far as when it asks me for the level text.
And I can't seem to load the level text much less find them.
So I tried my own level text.
Dude can anyone help me before I just give up please.

Question #1  :banghead:
How can I fix FF1 :ff:and FFEdit?

Question #2  :banghead:
How can I fix the dangerroom in FF1 :ff:?

Question #3  :banghead:
Where are my level text and how do I install them?

Question #4  :banghead:
Is there a tututial for ffdit2 :ffvstr:
Like there was for the first one?

Sombody help me please :(

I don't have  :ff:, so I can't answer your first group of questions, but regarding Question #4:

Go to Irational Games/ Freedom Force/ ffx3/ manual/ index.htm

After that opens in your browser, on the left hand side is a list of content. Click on "FFX Control Centre". That will lead to an introduction to ffedit2. You should also check the Attributes section and see what customization may be available for each attribute.

Actually, the documentation for FFEdit is located on the top menu under Help-->Contents. LP pointed you in the direction of FFX Control Center which some people over the years have have called FFXEdit (which can lead to some confusion). Now, honestly, if you didn't have the FFX manual, then it's vital that you have it if you want to customize your heroes with FFX.

You mention, "I am not using a CPU that has Windows & where as before I was using XP." I believe in another thread, you stated you were using Windows 7. Is this the case or are you running under another OS? Either way let us know what OS you are usng and perhaps someone else using the same OS has come across similar issues or knows of the reason you are having problems.

Hmm,

Question 1: You're not going to get ffedit 1 to work. That tool only works correctly up to Win XP SP2 (or 3). You can just forget about that one. Sorry. (I say this not knowing if Win 7's compatibility options will allow it to work as correctly as it should).

Question 2: Danger room became buggier with the 1.3 patch. 1.2 is the way to go, if you can find it. If that doesn't work for you, then you're pretty much out of luck.

Question 3: I'm not sure why you would need level.txt files, but those are in the level_layout folder, and it may be zipped up in the Art.FF file in your Data folder.

Question 4: No, because FFedit 2 works in the exact same manner as FFedit 1, no exceptions. You should probably just check out the Comp List of Tutorials (http://freedomreborn.net/forums/index.php?topic=50675.0) Thread to see what's available to you.

FFEdit I works perfectly for me, when I'm not using the Steam Version of Freedom Force, and I have Windows 7.

Did you make sure to turn off your User Account Control?

I don't have windows 7 (hence my disclaimer). I just know what I've read in the past and experienced for myself as a modder. FFedit 1 is very limited post XP SP3 from MY dealings with it in Vista.

(If this question was directed at Hmarrs, then my bad. :P)

What do you mean by user account???

@Provisionary thanks for the info.
I have the level layout folder but for some reason when I go to load up a level text.It does not find it.
Can you guide me on some steps? On ffedit2.
Also after reading these text I bet ffedit 1 won't work because of the 1.3vpatch.

Why are you trying to load up level.txts in ffedit? Those files are NOT meant to be loaded in ffedit by the user. What are you trying to accomplish? If you're trying to edit a map, then you need to read: http://phantombunburyist.freedomforceforever.com/tempest/modtutorial.html

Which it, and other map related tutorials, are easily located in the Comp List of Tutorials thread I already linked you to.  IG also covers that topic very well with their built in help guides that come with FFedit, which basically gives you a step by step on the entire FFedit program. Please peruse those. You pretty much have the answers at your finger tips.
