Title: Ctool2
Post by: hmarrs on January 18, 2012, 02:46:45 PM
Somewhere around here there was a way of downloading and using CTool2 without having to download the game.
Does anyone remember the download?
I would apreciate it. ^_^

That's not exactly what he was asking for, but it'll do. Essentially, you download the tools and treat the file like a zip via right clicking, iirc.

1.- Right click on the link above and download the file
2.- Rename the downloaded file: FFVT3R_Mod_Tools.exe to FFVT3R_Mod_Tools.zip
3.- Open it (winzip, winrar,...)
4.- Once opened there'll be several files and 2 folders. Double click on \program files, \Irrational games and \Freedom Force vs 3rd Reich
5.-Look for the CharacterTool2.exe (I don't remember if it needs more files, you can extract all of them in case of trouble)
:)

It.s not working when I go to rename it,it doesnt show the exe so I can change it.So basically I'm changing it to .zip.exe.
Is their a more direct link or someway to rename the exe.

You need to go into folder options, go into the "view" tab, and uncheck "hide extensions for known files."

Regardless, the file is treated like a zip in EXE format. Just right click it and hit extract, if my memory is correct.

You can find it here: http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?mss32

I don't know if the site is 100%-virus safe, but it seems legit.

Wow I Think I'm going to give up.
It's now telling me I'm missing zlib-1.1.3dll

I think, what your missing are the dll files that come with the FFVT3R game.

It'd be nice if you can give the game a try/chance. (You know, give Irrational some support and all..) It's pretty cheap now.

But if you really don't want to...i could email you the zip file i got from Previsionary's old link for Ink. I've also taken the liberty of adding all the missing dll files in it too. Total file size is around 6mb.

Just think what you can do with ffx 3.3 (it's an add-on): new powers, attributes, custom missions...

There are a lot of advantages. You get to try/add on the latest ffx 3.3 add on. (Like Imalonsof already mentioned..) Most modders are modding for FFVT3R too. So you can also try out most of the latest mods with it. But even without those added bonuses, i think no Freedom Force fan should be without FFVT3R. I mean it's the continuation of Freedom Force's adventures after all, right? New characters, new villains and a new campaign. If you're truly a fan, i think this game should be in one of your game collections together with the original Freedom Force.
I'm having a bit of a problem attaching the zip file thru email. I think, I'll try sending you a zip file of all the dll files. Just place the dll files in same folder as your character tool2.

Edit: Sorry...internet connection seems to be wonky at the moment. Even editing this message is getting to be hard. I'll try emailing it to you later...

Thanks Outcast I guess I'll go ahead and get it.It's just the thought of converting all of FF1 files to FF2 give me the shutters.
But if everyone else has then I have no excuse. :D

I'm glad to hear (or actually "read") that. Personally, i think :ffvstr: is a great game. I hope the story/campaign mode will keep you entertained for a while, as you slowly convert the other meshes you'd like to add in the game. Take it one step (or rather one mesh ) at a time. After finishing the campaign, there are also other mods you may wish to try. Whatever else you wish to try, the important thing is that you have fun. :)

Well, sent. But i only use this so i can use Ctool2 (to check out skopes and skins) on other computers.

I haven't really tried if FFEdit will work, since you mentioned in another thread that Alex's Mod tools didn't work out for you.
