Title: Problem with Polaris skin
Post by: peanutpreuss on January 17, 2012, 10:10:40 PM
I downloaded the classic x-man pack 3b from C6 and am trying to install the polaris skin, however it is showing pink in the game.  Hope someone is able to tell me how to correct the issue.

I see that it is a skope that was included, and created a Polaris directory that contains the nif and kf.  The remainder of the files were moved to skins -> standard directory.

Polaris - miguelyanke's AIO Polaris skoped from Polarisv2 (INK); Scarlet_witch1 (INK); Mystique_INK (INK); Storm_Jimlee_2 (INK); Syn_morph (Syn), Polaris (INK) included

Yeah, I have the same issue with Storm (her skope is kind of screwy in that it has extra pieces on it that are not covered by the skin). Cyclops is also missing the skope that was supposed to come with it, but I'm not complaining. I'm just really glad we got the skins.

Thanks, LP and C6

I've had that problem a couple of times. Sometimes I solved it by finding some of the original files they were skoped from and dragging/ putting their skins in the skoped standard. Try grabbing Ink Polaris' and putting their skin in and see what happens.

As I recall (and it has been a while) about 99% of the time the "pink" issue was due to a missing .refl or .glow file in the skin folder.  If you have those files, check to make sure that they are 256 X 256 resolution at least, or they won't display correctly.  Some skinners packaged the .refl and .glow files at lower resolutions to save file size for dial-up users.
If that is not it. I think there may have been an issue with the "shadows" setting in game. (Again not 100% sure it affected skins).

Hope this helps.
