Title: WACOM Tablet or Similar
Post by: Xenolith on January 03, 2012, 01:47:22 PM
I'd appreciate any advice on which device to purchase.  Will mostly use it for drawing black and white sequential art or single panels.

Thanks!

if you have never used one a bamboo is a great way and cheapest to start, but if you want a serious one get a intuos, i have an a4 intuos 3 and i love it.

the top of the line is the wacom cintiq, ohh how it taunts me

Thanks UE.  I don't have any experience with one.  I think if I commit to buying one I'll just shell out for the intuos.

Naturally there are some very flashy tablets out there, but essentially it all depends on how you work, and what you need it for. Personally, I far prefer simple tools that don't take up much space, so I'm more than happy with a bamboo. I've done the extra-large, extra-fancy tablets with maximum customisability etc and don't get me wrong, there's a reason they're the 'happy' dreams of professional artists/designers. But from the sound of it you're probably not going to need that level of tech. So if you want something proficient with a decent surface space around which you can set up a workstation, then an Intuos will serve you well. Otherwise, if you need mobility and you're happy working on a small scale, a bamboo should prove more than sufficient.
