Title: Return to Cybertron
Post by: BentonGrey on December 20, 2011, 11:43:45 PM
Howdy guys, I've heard a rumor that IDW is copying the ridiculous awesomeness that is the reborn G.I. JOE: Real American Hero series that Larry Hama is once again penning with their Transformers line, but I can't find any real information about this.  Has anyone else heard about these rumors?

Y'know, I don't have a link, but I vaguely recall that as well. If I see anything about it I'll letcha know.

Thanks XStream, that is indeed what I was after!  I'm not entirely sure what to make of this.  If I had read more of the original TF run I might be more certain that this would be worthwhile, but as it is, I'm not really sold on the idea.  I've read the first TF Gen. 1 omnibus, and it was pretty mediocre.  It definitely doesn't compare to the G.I. JOE stories from the same period.  I wonder if they picked up enough to make it worthwhile to read this continuation/conclusion.  I actually started enjoying the IDW TF line until they just decided to let their artists go nuts.  It sorta' lost me around then, so I'd like some good Transformers books as part of my monthly pulls.  Is anyone else interested in this?

I'm probably the only one who cares about this, but I'll post this just in case there are others out there that are interested.  I was looking back through my Dreamwave TF series, and I realized that Simon Furman had written the War Within titles.  That changes things.  I'm definitely picking this book up.

Oh yeah, Furman is the go to guy for TF. He has written most of what is considered official canon... or was... Hasbro has decided to create an official cannon, but until recently Furman was the guy.

Sadly, comics haven't made it back into our house hold budget. Let me know what you think about it. I would definitely be interested in hearing how it goes. Are you reading any of the current books (ongoing and spotlights)?

Here's a CBR article about it.  (http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=36515) The new series will kick off with a Free Comic Book Day issue. That's pretty cool. I'll try to pick that if I can come FCBD.
