Title: Ummm.....Hello?
Post by: hmarrs on January 21, 2011, 07:25:25 PM
Hey guys I um... was on this Forum back in I want to say 2001 or 2002 when the First Freedom Force came out.
Then by the time the second one came out things seem to kind of die down.I have had more children since then so I kind of been doing the Dad thing.I would come on every now and then. However I am happy to see Freedom Force still lives.I just want to say hey to the new guys and hello to anyone past.I wasn't anyone really anyone special.I wasn't a Modder or a Skinner or a Mesher or anything like that so I don't expect anyone to remember me.My then name was Lobo or Lobo Wolf or somthing like that.Anyway it is a previledge to be back among such amazing talent.Any help you could offer me as I don't even know where to begin or what changes I should consider making.Maybe I need to catch up and buy the second installment of the game???Or what patches.I don't even know what skoping means.I been thinking about booting up my old CD and start playing the Freedom Force again.I hope you all will accept me back in again as family. ^_^

You were before my time, but welcome back to the boards. Some of the sites to check out are:

http://ffcenter.net/champions/index.html
http://heroforce.freedomforceforever.com/
http://tommyboymeshes.freedomforceforever.com/index.html
http://frp.unlimited2.net/

There's alot more out there, but this should get you started. As for skoping, it's being able to take pieces from one mesh and place them on another. In my opinion, I think the introduction of Nifskope is part of what revitalized the FF Franchise. Good luck getting back in the game, and don't hesitate to ask for help.  :D

Two words, BiL: Wrong thread, and, no, I don't skin (Those sad, pathetic days are long gone.).  Sorry.

Well, a warm welcome back to the fold I extend to you hmarrs.  I mean, you're before even my time with your 2001 and your 2002 grand-standery; and I'm long since part of the furniture by now.  Sure, not a comfortable or well regarded piece of furniture, but still standing yet and able to withstand the mass of a wide-loaded burden metaphorically imposing itself upon my cushioned exterior.

Um, where was I going with this again...?

I do seem to recall someone mentioning that Freedom Force and its' sequel were available cheap on Steam.  You could check that out if you're interested in picking up the sequel.

I remember you Lobo.  Nice to have you back.  Well, we still have some people still playing the game and others have moved on.  Put it like this, we are more than just a forum based on a game.  Anything hero, scifi, fantasy or a combination, it is talked about here.  Go look around.

Might be that they are for FFv3R. The old CTool won't open FFv3R meshes, and the new CTool won't open FF1 meshes. It's one of the major annoyances about the new game that the meshes are not compatable. Converting FF1 to FFv3R is easy, although there are still a (very) few that won't convert (and some skilled people have found ways to convert most of those and posted the conversions). As far as I know, there is no easy way to convert from FFv3R to FF1. Anyway, if it won't open, it's probably for the other game (especially if you get a Null Pointer Code Error).

If it's a character that you really want, just ask in the Requests forum; there may be more than one version. Shoot, there may be more than five or six (Superman... Spider-Man... Wolverine and every other character to ever appear in The X-Men...)

I think Daglob pretty much has it covered, and like he said, if you're looking for a specific character for a specific game, the requests for is your best bet.

Hey I been playing around with Nifskope I can't say I know what I'm doing. However it reminds me of the old Hex editor from back in the day.
Can any one offer any help or direct me to a tutourial?
One of the things from my understanding is that you can Imort and Export and Export I tried it but I don't know how to connect my pieces. It was a like a Hair piece but it never showed up in the original.

if the hair piece didnt show up in the original, that means its hidden. click on the pice you want, right click where it says "editable mesh", click flags, and unclick the box that says "hidden". to get a piece from one mesh to another, you want to "copy branch" of the piece you want, and paste it on to the other meswh, usually on the "scene root", depending on your needs.

Definitely check out this site: http://frworld.wikispaces.com/ It has some great general info on both versions and notes the differences. It also has some pretty valuable tutorials on Nifskope among other things.
Also, if you do get FFVTTR, one of the conversion tools for the meshes can be found here: http://www.alexff.com/
Being that you are an old timer, like me, you'll be happy to know that Alex is still around. His was probably the first site I checked out (after this one, of course). Glad to have you back.

Parallox and Earthquake, you say? Can I wager a guess and say you meant Paradox and Housequake? HQ is definitely still here as is his site, NPI. Paradox, unfortunately, passed some time ago. IPS was active but that is no longer the case.
