Title: Two hero file questions
Post by: spydermann93 on December 23, 2010, 04:14:58 AM
I have two questions (sorry if they seem a bit obscure) for my hero files in  :ffvstr:. They're more of a general consensus rather than a specific answer though.

1) When making a hero file, do you guys usually balance your custom heroes with the Freedom Force characters already ingame or do you make them much stronger than the built-in characters? I'm wondering because I've tried both ways, but I don't know which way to go with. I want my characters to be the same powerwise as some of the Freedom Force characters, but sometimes they feel too weak. Take for example Superman. He either feels too weak or too strong.

2) Do you guys allow your custom characters to use their Heroics? The reason I ask is because the built-in heroes (and some villians) use theirs. This pretty much goes with the first question, but I can't decide which is better for gameplay.

1) I balance my characters to one another, but not to the Freedom Force characters.  For instance, my Superman, Captain Marvel, Thor, and Hulk are all balanced to one another, but are all noticeably stronger and tougher than Supercollider and Order, etc.

2) I don't understand the question.

My apologies. I mean do you let your heroes use their "heal" after making an M25 AI script with them. The default setting is that they will use their heroic (the power that heals/revives your character) when they need it. Do you let them use it or do you disable them from doing so?

Like Kenn said, I also balance the characters to each other, but not necessarily to the Freedom Force characters.

For using the heroic icon, I let my characters have it. It extends the game and sometimes really makes a difference. I think of it as characters just getting their second wind. However, I make sure I take it away for certain characters, like those summoned (Green Lantern, Magical Summons, Puppet Master characters) or characters that don't really make sense having it (robots, minions/goons).

1.  I don't try to balance my files with built in characters.  For one, the in-game characters are quite limited, which seems par for how characters were made then as oppose to now, generally speaking.  For example the 60s Fantastic Four weren't as powered as they are now.  In all honesty, should Minute Man be able to hold a candle against Superman?  I mean, most of the DC universe can't hold a candle to Superman.  Why should the Freedom Force be any different?  But despite how over-powered they may seem, it's not like all of them are(or should be that way).  It's easy to understand Superman, Silver Surfer and Galactus to be over-powered, but Hawkeye, Hawkman and Cyclops can only be so highly powered.  For the most part, the built-in characters still can stand to be a challenge.

2.  As far as the Heroics go, I don't restrict it.  It may make a difference for some(if it's even used) or it may not.
