Title: Force Unleashed 2
Post by: captmorgan72 on October 22, 2010, 01:16:33 AM
Just played this and now I am really psyched for the game. Part 2 looks like it got a great graphic upgrade and the story intrigues me. I am a huge fan of Force Unleashed so admittingly, I am a little biased.

Have they improved the controls at all? I have the first but haven't finished it yet. I found the controls awkward.
I should download the demo.

Hmm, I don't know what you mean by improving the controls. I thought the controls were just fine. Never played a Star Wars game that made me feel like I was wielding the force like Force Unleashed.

Controls were the same and it looks like some of these already start maxed out which would make sense as it is a sequel.  Having to re-power your force skills again would be a bit redundant.  I really liked playing with the Jedi mind trick a lot and not to sound gruesome but the dismemberment was very graphically...pleasing. I've already reserved and paid for my collector's edition.

Played the demo and I fell in love with the whole game/ storyline all over again.

I saw the 4 minute trailer.  It was awesome!  I may give this a try.

Picked it up and played for about an hour so far. I am loving it! Nice graphic upgrade and combat seems tighter. I was pleased to see two skins that were my favs in the first game, Sith Stalker and Ceremonial Jedi Robes. Both look great with the updated graphics.

Finished it tonight and thought it was fantastic. Don't know why so many reviewers are calling it a shadow of the original. I thought it was just as good. The ending is Lost like, meaning it's up to us to interpret certain things. I kinda like that though. I especially liked the final boss fight
Spoiler
with all the rain and atmosphere, it reminded me of the fight between Neo and Agent Smith
I think it was worth the price of admission.

Well, nobody else is talking about Force Unleashed 2. How many of you guys have played it? What did you think of it?

I think that probably too much time/money was spent on the CGI cutscenes then on the core game. I still really loved this game despite it being rather short however.

I liked how they kept things open to interpretation instead of wrapping everything up in a bow. Is Starkiller really a clone or did Vader simply resurrect him as he did in the first game after impaling him and throwing him into space?

Did anyone else notice that Vader based his Terror Troopers off of General Grievous? He remembers how deadly Grievous was and the face-masks of the Terror Troopers reflect that.

I thought it was interesting the way Starkiller was having his flashbacks suggesting he may not be the clone Vader said he is. Learning from Sidious, Vader has become quite good at manipulation. Convincing Starkiller that he is a simple clone and not the template, Vader could continue trying to recreate his perfect weapon while keeping Galen on a leash, but of course things don't go as planned. I do believe that Vader intended to finally kill him though in the beginning of the game because he had finally succeeded in his goal. To see what that was you have to make the darkside choice at the end.

Haven't beat it yet, I'm in the middle of fighting Vader.  It does seems very short and not a lot of interactions between characters.  The graphics are great, but I would have prefer old graphic and longer story

After replaying part 1 and 2 several times recently, I noticed some things that got my mind whirling. Maybe I have watched too many Lost episodes but I am noticing things that are messing with my head.

Spoiler
I am thinking that he died when Vader betrayed him on the Executor. In the Distant Thunder cutscene explaining the creation of the Dark Apprentice, look closely at when Vader shows this clone the original Starkiller. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYR2q1Nzvck The Original Starkiller is not wearing the clothes he is supposed to have died on the Death Star in (the Ceremonial Jedi Robes) but rather his Training Robes that he wore up until Vader betrayed him on the Executor and below his left pec you can see a wound. Presumably, the wound Vader gave him as he stabbed him. This suggests the ending of FU1 was the first clone. Also explains why they refer to him as test subject there, and test subject here. Conclusion: The Starkiller that created the Alliance was also a clone.

I really liked the game and am playing through again for like the 10th time to get all the holocrons and such...I am such a completist.  My only real problem is the length.  It seems that this one is only about half to a quarter as long as the original.  IGN has already had an article that there is DLC coming and had screen shots but I do hope that when they make the third one, and you know they will, that they take the length of the game as a stand alone into consideration.

I finished it a while ago and it's obvious that there's going to be a part 3 (if the sales were strong enough).  So what do you guys think, was that the real Starkiller or a clone?

Spoiler
I think it he's a clone.  I went on youtube and saw the comic & the dark ending and it clearly points to him being a clone.

That depends on which ending was canon.  The light side is usually considered so which still leaves it up in the air.

Anyone play the DLC yet? I downloaded it yesterday along with the character pack. Short but sweet. My favorite character is Luke with Yoda on his back, way cool.

Spoiler
I liked how Leia told the dark apprentice that her brother "fell" on Hoth and she took over his destiny as a jedi. I assumed she meant that Luke died there but him "falling" ties in nicely with what happened in the DLC for Force Unleashed. Different darkside story but still. With a little imagination you can come up with some cool scenarios using the different character models. I thought that Leia was bada$$ as a jedi too. Most will probably not like the ending but I did. It really shows why Sidious is the master of the sith.
