hey everyone! well, Octobers here so what's your costume? i'm going as a viking or i guess a more viking Thor. here's my hammer. its real steel and weighs about 12-15 lbs. i did all the leather work. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=150159178352187&set=a.102090886492350.5083.100000743172849&ref=fbx_album
No Halloween for me this year, I'm afraid. My grandfather's 100th (!) birthday is the next day, and the party's the previous day, so I'll be away that weekend, and for several days previous. I love Halloween, but my grandfather's 100th birthday celebration has to take precedence.
Herodad, your link is not working, really want to see your costume. This year I'm going as a vampire hunter and my lady is naturally the vampire I am hunting. Will post pics once pics are taken.
Justice League: I'm Superman, my 10 year old son is Batman (which he has been for 50% of his holloweens to date), my 5 year old daughter will be Wonder Woman and my 1 year old son will be the Flash. I'm so psyched!
hope this shows up. my THOR pic. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=159769424057829&set=a.102090886492350.5083.100000743172849&ref=fbx_album
Nope, still not showing up for me.
Herodad: I think that you'll have to adjust your privacy settings for us to see the photo in that album. Facebook is blocking it for that reason most likely. Sounds like a cool costume, though!
I'm not sure what I am going to be yet. I thought about Andy Warhol, but the wigs are kind of pricey. I could dye my hair I suppose..
Oops! yeah, forgot about the privacy thing. fixed it. this should give some laughs!
I'm glad Zombies are in! I'm just gonna tear up some old clothes and put on some zombie makeup. That's the best thing since dressing up Hobo in elementary.
Very cool herodad! You really look the part.
I'm not heading out this year. I think I am just going to stay in the coffin and relax.
I'm probably going to be a cowboy (I've never been a cowboy on Halloween before and thought I'd give it a try)...I have almost a complete outfit now (just need some spurs that I saw at IParty).
Dana
I'll dress up as a dad giving out candy. I know, scary, right?
I'm putting together a Sweeny Todd outfit. Working on the wig right now.
I haven't been into Halloween since i was like 13, but i do enjoy being the guy who gives out the "good" candy.

AAAIIIEEEEE!
:mjboo
Most of my current costumes either involved a) something geeky that's not known to the general populous and generally get wrong and often embarrassing responses ("Mary Poppins!" for one of my nascent steampunk outfits) b) involve actual bladed weapons which don't go over well in public spaces outside of DragonCon.
So I'm going to throw together a quick pirate costume for when I go out this year.
I'm going to be Blanket Jackson (I'm not kidding).
Here is my costume. I was inspired by The Witcher and Van Helsing. My lady is the vamp I'm hunting.

I wasn't going to sacrifice my beard for the sake of costume, so it is a little improvised.
I dressed as a fat ninja. Man, that is an easy costume.

No raisins, no chalky Neko-wafer like things, no brownish-yellow taffy things that are supposed to taste like peanut butter but never do, no hard candy that tastes like cough medicine.
Lots of chocolate, gummi treats, or tangy fruity things. :)
...What?
@Reep
Is that Tomato? :)

Didn't do the costume this year, but I ran into this:

For the record, I am a HUGE fan of Necco Wafers.

It certainly is. And he'll be pleased to know he nows shares a room with my very attractive neighbour.
In fact, I'm jealous.
I've never actually attempted this costume idea - merely floated the concept past people to make them laugh.
The costume is a simple cardboard box, and affixing a hula hoop around it.
I call it, "A Square Peg In A Round Hole."

Heh.
My favorite "play on words" costume was something I wore some years ago, at a Halloween folk music concert- I wore the traditional ghost-sheet-with-eye-holes, mittens, and a scarf around my neck, and on my chest I had a piece of green fabric shaped like Greenland. I was the Cold Ghost of Greenland (the Cold Coast of Greenland being a phrase that pops up in a couple of different semi-traditional songs). Yes, it was an in-joke, but that's why I carefully chose where I'd wear it- I had a second costume for other events- and even without the wordplay, it was a surprisingly effective costume- the sheet was shiny, the mittens and scarf worked surprisingly well on a ghost costume, and I did a good job of quietly, mysteriously looming around while wearing it. I wish I had a picture.
Anyway, as I previously posted, I didn't wear a costume this year, but here are some pictures of my nephews in their costumes (made by their parents):
