For my first real go at skinning I started Owlman from the Brave & Bold cartoon.
I began with the C6 male costume base and worked into a Male Alpha mesh.
Still have to work on shading and detail for the belt and arm/leg bands, plus add my own cape.
Eventually I plan to learn how to skope the extras but just working on skinning for now.
Hopefully I'm on the right track and all feedback is most welcome.

Good job on the face and Logo. I do hope you try your hand at Nifskope, it will really improve the flow of the skin.
That is quite good. I guess this means I really should finish my PV Red Hood.
It's a good start, the logo is excellent and it has the feel of the source material (the cartoon).
I'm sure as you work on the detailing and reflections it will only improve.
I'll echo the others, it's a great start and you've really captured the look of the character.
If you want to try you hand at nifskope or someone is willing to help I'm sure you could find a mesh that better reflects the body shape and maybe get a modelled belt on it. The Timm meshes might be a good choice.
Neat. He looks a lot like DarkClaw.
Owlman is looking really good. The skin is great, specially the face.
I agree with Pod's suggestion about the Timm's bodies.
Excellent start. Everything is quite crisp and clean looking. I agree that a Timm mesh would rally do the character justice. Nifskope takes a lot of practice, but is really easy to use. Search the forum for some Nifskope tutorials. They really helped me out a lot.
There are also a couple of Batman meshes out there that have a more TAS appearence. Is one Male Alpha Edit? I used it for Bat Skrull.

And you could always ask for advice with Nifskope, there are alot of talented people here who would jump at the chance to help, I don't think anyone would turn you down.
Best of luck. I look forward to seeing more.
Thanks for the feedback everyone plus an extra thank you to C6 for supplying the base.
I'm starting to work my way through the Nifscope tutorials plus I've got some more skins to work on :)
Another WIP, this time Ultiman from Big Bang Comics.
Spent a bit of time on the face, boots and emblem but working on hair, costume and following skinning tutorials.
I like it. Very nice, bright and clean. Works perfect for the character.

Agreed, my only suggestion would be to maybe use a different mesh. The belt line down the center does distract slightly from the rest of the skin.

I second that, Male Cape Nobelt or one of the variants. Maybe a skoped version of Ren's Superman?
Nice job on the skin...I am planning some of the Big Bang characters myself....one day....
Will you tackle any of the others?
Respectfully,
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'll try one of the other meshes because the belt does detract.
As for other Big Bang Characters - Cyber whipped up some skopes for Mister U.S which I'm working on.
I know there are some very good Knight Watchman and Blitz skins. Personally I'd like to see both Beacon characters as well as Thunder Girl, Galahad and the other Whiz Kids.
I also thought it would be interesting to see a Project Super Powers style treatment of the Big Bang Group.
I know that Thunder Girl and Tornado Girl are in the works...
They are done, actually. I just have yet to post them for download.
Early stages of Superhero G from The Imaginaries...
That looks really cool martialstorm!
Oh nice, more talent coming aboard. ^_^
Everything's looking pretty good so far. I also really like your choice of characters.
Definitely agree with the others that your Owlman wip looks pretty good. Nice job on making those faces of Ultiman and Superhero G more unique. Hope to see what they all look like when you're done with them, Martialstorm. :)
Thanks for the feedback folks, this is a gryphon base over Aquaman by Ren. Here's an update, i'm just about ready to release it:
After taking the good advice regarding meshes I thought i'd have some fun including the golden and silver age versions.
Planning on some releases shortly.
Happy New Year!
NICE.
Thats a damn fine skin you have there. The muscles and the highlights or whatever you call them are well done, and I really like how you did the faces.
They're great! I liked the way you made the "silver age" more shining, and the difference between the faces is just perfect! I can see which one is the "Golden" age just looking to his face.
A+ job!
That's a solid transition between the two ages. Both are different, but still the same. Well played. ;)
The Golden Age face is supurb. Great job.
Thanks for the feedback, I had a lot of fun and it was a good learning process working on highlights, faces and hair etc.
Its good to play them in game using different power sets, plus I always enjoyed reading the multiple earth cross overs.
Nice job!!
The faces really do wonders. Golly.
I would say the Golden age blue is looking a bit muddy though. On the original, way back, it is brighter and pops a lot more (it just didn't have the definition). If you could take that pop and apply it here it would work much better. The belt also looks flat. Have you thought of applying a bit of shading, as well as edges as you've done with the boots?
Thanks for your feedback Unkoman, I agree with the muddy look and the belt which I wasn't happy with either but until your suggestion I wasn't sure which way to go.
I'll adjust both of those before I release them.
Coinciding with my Dalek request(Thanks everybody ), I wanted to try a 10th Doctor skin. Its early stages, with detail to be added for the trenchcoat and suit.
I looked at quite a few meshes but the closest I could find was the male hunter suit. If anyone can suggest a more appropriate one, I'm up for it.
Also planning an alternative skin on the male suit v2 w/ gun mesh (Trying to work in the sonic screwdriver).
I'd like to do more Doctor skins with a regeneration fx to change characters, but there's a long way to go yet.
I'ts great! The face is very expressive and really look like Tennant. I liked the clothes a lot too.
Impressive job!
Fantastic!
Was it Loopy Wolf that did K-9 too?
Yup. Also a UFO mesh, too.
Damn, dude. Thats a nice looking Doctor skin ya got there.
Youve been doing some pretty good stuff here lately.
That's a pretty darn good skin you got going there. I like the face a lot.
...wow...thats incredible! :D Great work!
The 10th Doctor is looking awesome. Great work.
Awesome tenth Doctor Skin.
Amazing face, martial!
Yeah, color me also impressed by the two different age skins. Nice work with the classically subdued and brightly shiny looks.
Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated :D
Some more Doctor Who:
I used some artistic license with the colours to avoid too much black but I think I still need to fine tune it. All comments welcome!
Impressive job! Great facework and the "regenerating" skin is a great idea! It's great to see the "modern" Doctors in FF.
BTW, my daughter asked me to say she really liked your skins.
Impressive.
Thanks John and Cyber :)
Also John please pass my thanks to your Daughter. Kids certainly tell us what they like and what they don't.
When I started skinning this lot, my 9 year old told me it looked awful and they were the worst Doctors...ever! Now he thinks they're ok which is reassuring lol.
As for these I've also done green and black shirt variants to include with the release.
Very nice work. The faces and jacket are impressive.

She was at my side and insisted I had to tell you she really liked your skins, and since she never saw any Doctor Who episode (she knows the character only for hearing her parents talking about him) it's a very sincere compliment.
Neat characters. I remember Dr. Who.
Was this Tenth Doctor skin or mesh ever released to the public? I'm highly interested in finding one for the 10th Doctor (Who).
Thank you.
Hi Revels
Thanks for asking about the Doctor Who content, all my released stuff is at
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/martialstormvortex/ (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/martialstormvortex/)
I haven't released the trenchcoat version yet but you may find some other stuff you'll like. I've also got two Matt Smith's in the works plus chipping away at a mod (Front page, sound effects and first mission done but having trouble with getting the voices to work and getting a tardis building and vehicle to work).
You are a TimeLord among men! Thank you, thank you so much.
These look fantastic. I really appreciate the work you've done. :)

Same here.
I'm looking forward to see more of your work.
Thanks Cyber and John its been too long between drinks. Working on this current Doctor Who, Matt Smith, very early but happy with the face so far.
I'm not a Doctor Who type of guy, but the face looks great.
Love me some Doc Who. Great job on the face, definately captures Matt Smith while still not looking out of place on the skin.
Wow MS! That's just about the best photoskin I've ever seen!
For a second there I thought it was a real photo. Good job.
Cheers and thanks for the encouragment everyone, not too long to finish the skin and looking forward to sharing it.
Here it is: Happy to receive feedback or suggestions before I release it.
I apologize, but I'm going to be making a lot of critiques here, mostly because I'm actually disappointed with how it looks now given how it looked before.
-Clearly you took the left side of the face from the last preview and mirrored it, but the result just doesn't look right anymore. The eyes are too close together, the eyebrows are too heavily saturated making them look red, there are highlights on both sides of the nose which looks unbalanced, and the mouth is too thin and looks goofy.
A face skin doesn't HAVE to be perfectly symmetrical. You could have left it as it was before, or better yet, adapted it... used the smile from the full image combined with the mirrored face. Furthermore, when choosing the side to mirror, always use the one with shadows on the side of the nose, otherwise you end up with two major light sources instead of one.
I understand that we couldn't see how the face looked from the right side, but I really don't understand why you changed it the way you did. You upped the contrast on the hair and face resulting in these red shadows which clash with the shadows on the hands and don't look natural, and by mirroring the eyes the way you did his face looks squashed and less like Matt Smith then it did in the last preview.
Anyway, sorry, it just irks me because you had it so perfect the first time.
-As far as the clothes go, two things. First, I would suggest adding a highlight to the elbow-pads on the jacket, similar to the one on the collar. Right now, they just look stamped onto the skin, as opposed to an actual section of the coat. Second, the shading on the back of the coat bothers me. See, when doing shading, your highlights are supposed to be the area closest to a particular light source, with the shadows being in the areas furthest away. For most skins, it's usually assumed that the light source is from something high above, such as the sun or an overhead light. However, on the back of the coat near the neckline, the part of the coat nearest an overhead light source, there's this weird shadow. It just looks goofy and out of place, particularly since there should be a highlight in its place.
Thanks for the constructive feedback Tomato, I took the advice and tried to change as best I could, is this more on track?

Hi everyone, sadly my laptop crashed and I lost my finished 11th doctor except for an early draft which I'll redo soon. In the meantime I started several other Doctors, still plenty to tidy up especially the proper skinning over the existing recoloured standard skin for Austin Powers mesh. Other meshes used including Ink's Sebastian Shaw, Atomic Robot Dick Tracy and Gni's The Crow.
Wips as follows:
Those are looking mighty fine, MS...I love them! Of your Doctor Who skins, I really like 11(Matt Smith) the best so far, my second fave is 3(Jon Pertwee). One suggestion if I may, you may want to add a wig to 6 (Colin Baker) to give him his curly top (I apologize, if you were already going to do that...I just wasn't sure how far into making him you were).
Dana
Many thanks Dana, glad you like them so far, i'm happy that I have all of the Doctors at various stages of development including voicepacks, Amy and one of the Masters. Its also a natural fit for Jack to work on the Male Hunter mesh.
I've been playing with nifskope and the next thing is for me to learn how to attach wigs. Can you suggest something to use for the Colin Baker character?
Also I have reskinned the title scene but having lots trouble obtaining screenshots, every time the captured image just shows a black square. I've tried three image capture programs but without success. If anyone has suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it.
All the best
Craig
it's not an image capture thing, it's a movie codec/program thing. Try using vlc player.

Hey Craig,
For Colin Baker's hair I would suggest an afro wig, perhaps from Tommyboy's versatile meshes. You can just resize it a bit if its too big, it would probably also work well for Tom Baker's Doctor (if you are making him).
As for Voicepacks, Good for you. I made VPs for Jon Pertwee's and Tom Baker's Doctors and for K-9 quite a few years back. I started other Doctor Who VPs, but I never finished them.
Dana
Hi all,
Here is the re-skinned title page for my Doctor Who Mod, just click on it to see the full thing and please free to recommend any changes or improvments. Thanks Dana and Tomato for your suggestions to capture the in-game footage.

That batman inc character looks cool, havent read the series but is he like a robin for one of the other bats ?
Very cool Martial
Job well done on the Bat character.
Cheers guys, much appreciated :)
Redbird? Cool!
A lot of nice looking stuff here. Good work. I see a lot of attention to details.
Is there a site where martialstorm's finished skins can be found? Or has he released any? If I'm not mistaken, most skinners/meshers/modders here put a link in their sig. Of course, I realize most of these were made exclusively for his upcoming Dr. Who mod. (Or has that been released already?)
It's sad to hear about the laptop crash as I know what it's like to loose valuable material and work from hard drive failure. Personally, I think that's a reason to release sooner rather than later. Over the years, I've seen a lot of projects hurt or even scuttled due to that sort of thing. That, or getting buried and forgotten.

I'm not a Doctor Who fan, but your love of the series really shows in the effort that you are putting into your skins.
Just so you know martialstorm, I am a big fan of Doctor Who and I really like your skins . I have mostly all of them and/or all of them including Brigadier Lethbridge Stewart, and also I have a Tau Firewarrior mesh with skins of the Cybermen and the Cybermen skins for the Microwave :ff: Mesh. Also I like your previews of the Eleventh Doctor, and Sarah Jane Smith herself. I also recently heard about the person known as Elisabeth Sladen who played her character Sarah Jane Smith who passed away at the age of 65 from 1946 to 2011 how sad :(, but still I can carry on her legacy if there will be a skin of miss Sarah Jane Smith herself I can use for :ff: Freedom Force :ff:. I hope you bring us more from the Doctor Who universe to enjoy and play with, and hopefully you will bring us more soon. Until then, CUL8TR ;)!!!
BigD
Thanks Cyber, it's good to be back skinning and more with FF. I've got a couple of non Who related skins, one of which I'll preview this week.
Big D I really appreciate the kind words and enthusiasm for the skins and the show. Needless to say I was also a big fan of the Sarah Jane character and Grew up with her so it was tough to do the skin and it previously felt a little soon after her passing to show this.
I'll have the skin released by the end of next weekend. Down the track I want to include a later Sarah Jane Adventures era version.
Craig
Nice work, Martialstorm! The faces on your characters look fantastic!
Bravo, MS. Those skins look very good....I asked about your mod over at FRP forums, but you never responded. I hope it's still on the table.
Best,
Dana
These are awesome! I've been a major whovian for some time now, and this has really got me excited for the 50th.
Great Doctor Who skins MS. You really captured Matt Smith well.
Your faces are really impressive, MS. They look just like them.
Sara looks awesome and your face work is amazing, nice job on all of them.
Thanks for the encouraging words everyone, i'm taking the advice and releasing very soon as I don't want to lose the work in another crash. I wanted to do a Matt Smith in his new outfit as there are a number of different games featuring the standard tweed jacket.
The mod is coming along slowly, I've been irritated to see the storyline I had in mind unfold in the current IDW Prisoners of time comic so I'm tweeking some of mine a bit with still a lot of characters to do but its getting there.
Some non- Who stuff coming very soon...
WIP New Batman of Earth 2...
(http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a308/Martialstorm/batmanearth2.jpg) (http://s14.photobucket.com/user/Martialstorm/media/batmanearth2.jpg.html)
Man, that mask and face are fantastic!
Cool. I agree the mask is impressive.
Your Earth 2 version of Batman is awesome , furthermore it's not like any of the other versions of Batman I've seen or gotten for :ff: and also I dig the way it looks such as the face, the mask and the costume. I'm not sure which version of Freedom Force it will be for whether it's :ff: or :ffvstr:, but I'm sure that whichever version of it takes this latest creation to make it work I hope it works and also works out for all of us. I hope you bring us more to enjoy, and I hope the next few releases are superior :D. Until then, Ciao my friends and peace out ;).

Cool skins! I'm impressed with the faces on your skins, Matt Smith's face is perfect on that skin.
I'm personally not into Dr Who, but your skins looks great.
I really dig the work you did on Batman's mask. Very cool job on these.
I'll agree with the consensus on this... the photoshop work you did on Batman's mask (from George Clooney, of all things) was done really well.
Haha I'm glad you picked up who that was Tomato. I've had the Clooney mask pic kicking around for a while and finally found a use for it lol.
Thanks for the kind words everyone its great to be participating again.
Another Doctor WIP this time the tenth Doctor, David Tennant:

Hi MS,
Looking good! I really like your Batman!!
You know this reminds me that I have a friend that looks a little like David Tennant. Something in the face.
Anyway great likeness.
I have to admit I still haven't gotten around to watching Doctor Who :(
i am not familiar with the doctor who characters but they look really well made. i wouldn't have recognized batman as clooney, but it looks really nice. very nicely detailed. good job.
Latest Who Skin:Clara Oswin Oswald aka The Impossible Girl

Way to go, and way to skin Martialstorm ! That is a very good skin of Clara Oswin Oswald aka The Impossible Girl, and furthermore the plaid design on the dress is very good and everything else is perfect. She's just like out of the Matt Smith version Doctor Who series, and above all I like the details on your latest skin as well. Keep up the good work, and I hope you please more fans of the Doctor Who universe and the :ff: universe. Peace out, and may your meshes and skins attract more fans. CUL8TR!

Very nice MS, your photoskinning is fantastic.
Thanks very much guys, also thanks to John Jr for his Skope of Tommyboys Supergirl Modern with Ink add ons 👍
Very cool.
You really are wonderful at photoskinning on meshes. The face is stunning.
Hi everyone :)
It's been awhile and between various RL stuff, I've been back and forth on the Doctor Who Mod. There's still plenty to do, but I wanted to share a few bits and pieces. (With thanks to Tomato for his Sylar, Ink for his Sebastian Shaw and Texas Jack/Gren for their Pulp Versatile Shade.)

Agreed, it's really great to see you back MS. Glad to know that you're still working on the Mod as well. Even if I don't really know the Characters, new Mods are always awesome too see.
Those look awesome! I especially like the detail on the 6th Doctor.
yeah... what they said... wow...
MS! Nice to see you back!
Great work with the doctors and the The Impossible Girl (I don't know her character, I suppose it's relatively new since I stopped to watch Doctor Who in the early Tennant days). Your photoskinning is better than ever, congrats!
Cool! Loving their faces.
The photoskinning work is pretty darn great! Their faces are fantastic.
