Title: disappearing hat trick
Post by: bearded on October 14, 2010, 08:45:57 AM
is it possible to make an object in a mesh, like a hat or cane, disappear for one keyframe sequence using nifskope or a hex editor? i want a hat to disappear during a ranged attack for a hat throw fx.

If it were me, I'd take an existing mesh, like a Thor, that has a thrown weapon that disappears. I'd either skope in the body I wanted and link the hat to the hammer/whatever-is-thrown, so when the ranged anim plays and the hammer/whatever disappears/is-scaled-down, the hat follows it.
Or maybe skope the hammer/whatever onto your target mesh and copy over the keyframes in which it is thrown.
Of course, you still need an animation which reaches up for the hat and then frisbees it away, ideally, and I'm not sure that exists...

I've recently learned where in keyframes the scaling is kept, so if the hat is a separate node and that node is already referenced in the keyframes I know how to tweak, using NifSkope, those keys to make it vanish.

What kind of odd job have you taken on there, Bearded?

A 'Top Professional' one, I imagine; rather than a 'Talented Amateur.'
