Title: With Lots of Pulp
Post by: BentonGrey on September 29, 2010, 05:21:30 AM
Howdy folks!  I'm working a bit on a new volume for my Pulp Adventures mod.  It's got a very long way to go, but I thought I would start gathering some materials while I work on other things so I am ready to hit the ground running when I get to it.

I'll be posting new requests here.  First, I wonder if there is anything that could serve or be made to serve as one of the John Carter airships:
http://barsoom.wikia.com/wiki/Airships
https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/11/69/eb/1169ebf9a9ab414a1edd331285ec84f1.jpg

More to come!

Old request
Spoiler
I've done a lot of driving in the last week or so, and to keep myself sane with those long car trips interspersed with periods of madness, I've been listening to lots of classic radio dramas.  I've got a hankering for some pulp characters, and I am sure the community has made most of the guys I'd be interested in.  I've got Doc Savage, but can someone point me towards:

Green Hornet
Kato
The Rocketeer
John Sunlight
The Shadow

Also, I'm surprised that no one has requested them, but I'd like to see if anyone was interested in creating the Red Panda, the Flying Squirrel, and perhaps even their nemesis, the Mad Monkey!

Hey Benton, check out JFoam's section at Alex's, he's got Kato and the Green Hornet; I know the Rocketeer skin is in the Great Hunt mod which is over at the Mod Graveyard

JFoam also has a Shadow

At the C6 section of the Freedom Fortress, you can find C6's Shadow skin. It works on a Texas Jack mesh. In fact, maybe you should just grab the pulp mod at the Fortress and plunder alot of the guys in there. Im pretty sure that in addition to the original chracters, it also has a buncha actual pulp guys like the Shadow and whoever. As for the Rocketeer, I forget who did him, but you can find him in the Great Hunt mod if you can find it. Too bad nobody every hexed a broom-handle Mauser on him or something though. He dont look right without a pistol.

No Sunlight though, and I havent seen any of Doc's aides aside from a few files on a Freedom Force Pulp yahoo group.

Glob has meshes and skins of The Spider and The Black Bat on his groups, and Kenn has various Phantom and Tarzan stuff at Freedom Fortress, along with C6's Phantom skin. IIRC, and if its still up, at the FX Force hex section you can also find a Indiana Jones hex and a John Carter of Mars hex.

I wouldnt mind seeing more pulp guys. I for one could use a good Richard Benson/The Avenger.

KSSaints did The Avenger, I think. I've done some Spider skins, and started The Ghost. You could use the Claude Rains Invisible Man skins for Captain Zero.

There is also a Bama-inspired Doc Savage skin at CO3, as well as a Black Bat skin and mesh at CO4.

I've got a John Sunlight started, but how do you represent someone who is totally scary and dangerous, but looks like a guy in a suit? I've got ideas about Doc's men, but haven't done anything yet. You couldn't play them all in FF anyway.

You ever see the new DC First Wave stuff? Sunlight in those looks like a crazy man with a white suit. Long hair and a big ratty beard.

Awesome, thanks for the help guys!  Man, KS's Avenger is a very nice skin.  I knew I had forgotten someone, and he was the one that had slipped my mind.  I've got that Bama-photoskinned Doc Savage, and I love it.  Yeah, Sunlight is probably a little on the tough side.  He's not really that distinctive looking.  Any advice on what existing skin or mesh would serve best for him?  (There is this image: http://www.docsavagelibrary.com/superhero-library/Img/Characters/sunlight-full-body.gif)

Anyone willing to skope a pistol into the Rocketeer's hand?

Remember, it has to be a Broom-Handle Mauser.

And wow, thats a different Sunlight than whats in the new comics. He looks like a crazy drunk russian Alan Moore. In a white suit.

And where can I get the Avenger skin?

Haha, are you saying Alan Moore ISN'T crazy and/or drunk?  Well, I'd be content with the Luger that the Nazi General mesh has, but if someone HAS a Mauser....awesome.

The Avenger is in KS's 10th Yahoo group, saintsandskinners10, I believe.

Also, can anyone manage to convert J_Foam's Green Hornet hex to FF2?  I can't seem to manage it.

There is a Kato mesh here: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Lordehmsidymeshes1/ (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Lordehmsidymeshes1/)

There is a Rocketeer mesh here: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Freedomforcemesh2/ (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Freedomforcemesh2/)

I've seen the Green Hornet before somewhere, but I can't remember where.

There is a Green Hornet on a PV mesh someplace, and someone has converted all the GH/Oconnor meshes to FFv3r. You will have to do  a search on them in the past threads of this forum, though. Gotta run-late already.

Wha?

Hmm. I dont know how to help you. The person who started it probably dropped out of the community years ago, but I joined a long time ago. Youre probably not going to get let in, and I dont think he even knows if you want to get in.

If theres a big enough want, I could maybe download all the stuff on the group and send it to someone else. Maybe they could start another group or throw it up on a site or something?

I think RTTingle started the pulp group, and he commented on something just the other day. You might try sending him a PM.

Zuludelta did the PV Green Hornet hex and skin.

Ow Tiobe seems to have done some work converting Oconnor to FFv3R. I'm reasonably certain someone has also conv erted the Oconnor/Green Hornet meshes by someone (Captain Wigster?).

At CO4 is the Spider skin that comes with a cape for DetoruneMe's Oconnor/Tomstone mesh. It looks pertty good. I also have a Shadow skin for the Male Hunter mesh, as well as Male Civilian 2 Guns (from FF Pulp Resoruce). O course with The Shadow and The Avenger, they can look like anybody they want to so you can use Male Suit or whatever.

I've been meaning to take the pants pieces from a TV mesh and give Male Muscular pants, then see if I can increase the size of the hands for Renny (wonder if Piledriver would do instead), Take one of Johnny Patches or Kenn's Male Heavy meshes and make it smaller and add "pants" for Monk, put Ham and Long Tom on PV meshes, and see what could be done about a male suit skinny (or PV Skinny) mesh for Johnny.

Tomato was looking for a mesh with a cane earlier today, I mentioned how nice it would be for a mesh with a sword cane.

It would do for Talisman and Richard Wentworth, also.

I have been away from FF for a while. I beat the first FF a few times, bought FFvTTR, installed it and never got around to playing it. So now I aim to correct that. I have been downloading meshes and skins like a mad man(going through the laborious process of tracking down the correct meshes and keyframes for the correct skins etc.) and was excited to see there was a resource for pulp heroes for FFvT3R but, this "wait for approval" thing has me worried. I am not about to request that someone put in a bunch of work re-uploading the meshes/skins to a new Yahoo group just so I can check them out though.

As I mentioned to someone else, I think RTTingle has that group. He was last active on the 16th, so you might PM him and ask him about it.

What they have is this:

civilian cape guns
Kato dart effect
male basic rockets
Green Hornet FX, skin, and hero file
The Phantom FX
A bunch of stuff for The Shadow
Skins for 4 of Doc's buddies
Male Cane

Hey dudes.

So, I downloaded the Avenger hex-mesh, and I tried it out in Ctool. The readme says that it takes the keyframes from Gren's TM-cordless mesh, and when I slapped them on, it didnt work.

Anybody got the right keyframes for this?

Title: Re: With Lots of Pulp
Post by: daglob on October 21, 2010, 10:01:48 PM
That's the reason I download every Taskmaster, TM, TMC, or whatever mesh and keyframes I find. Sometimes when the readme file says "uses any (specific Taskmaster-type) keyframes", it's wrong. I suspect that either the mesh or the keyframes have been altered, but I have something like 16 different (going by size, and I don't mean one or two kb) Taskmaster-type keyframes.

Dont get me wrong, the mesh is great, but mother of god, the keyframes can drive you crazy very easy. I mean, I can't use a lot of Kenn's cool meshes because of it.

Yeah, when I was trying to compile my keyframe folders for the DCUG I did quite a bit of searching, double checking, and testing to find the right keys for various TM meshes.

Which ones?   I can use my meshes, so I can probably hook you up.  Then again, this kind of thing is why I've taken to including the keyframes with my more recent releases.

Actually, Moonbow_KX has my standard taskmaster keyframes and Agent_Liberty_KX has my standard taskmaster_cordless keyframes.  If you have those I'd suggest trying those.

I just wanted to let you know I really appreciate you including the keyframes. I've got all the different taskmasters myself now but its often a sticking point I have had in the past with scopes/hexes etc.

Gotta request here.

Does anybody wanna do a new Doc Savage skin for Kenn's Bob (Sheena's Mate) mesh? I think it would fit Doc pretty spot on. It even has the flared pants!

Or, maybe one for Afghan Ant's Doc Axel Brass hex mesh? Obviously I think it would be a good fit.

Anyone interested?

It would be best if the mesh were a little bigger, and once you did either a Bama or a Baumhoffer, you would have to do the other...

I've kitbashed a Doc Savage skin for AA Doc Brass.

When you say the Bama Doc, youre talking about the version of Doc with the winkled face and intense widow's peak, right? And the other guy is the version of Doc with the regular hair?

You know, in the old DC Shadow comic, and presumably the Doc Savage comic from the same time, they portrayed Doc as a mix of both. He was still rocking the widow's peak, but its not like a buzz cut, and the face isnt winkled and whatever. You know, thats the kind Id like.

And if you do do something with the Axel Brass mesh, howaboot throwing in some weird looking guns, too?

I use the Phantom DX skin because I think it fits Doc the best, but I never thought of Doc as carrying a regular ole gat.

Although if ya wanna get really particular, you could just use it for a Doc Caliban hero. HE sure as hell didnt have a problem with killing people. In fact, those auto-firers of his shot exploding bullets! He was about as bad as Lord Grandrith, who admitted to cannibalism.

Hey, I like PJ Farmer? What can I say?

Howdy guys, I'm looking for the Lone Ranger and Tonto.  I seem to remember a rather excellent version of the Ranger on TJ's cowboy mesh.  Does anyone know where that could be found?  Also, what is out there for Tonto?

My time frame for FF stuff is rapidly depleting, so I'm trying to get everything finished before Classes start back up. That being said, even though I've never successfully imported a Vehicle before, I'd still be willing to give it a try if no one else is able to. Are we looking at a Static Object to place on a Map, or something that would actually need to be used with Animations? And if Animations are needed, do you have a set in mind?
