Title: The Red Bee
Post by: DoctorRuina on September 27, 2010, 10:18:47 AM
I am doing hero files for the All-Star Squadron. Has someone some idea about how to represent the "power" of the Red Bee?

Assuming you want Roy Thomas' swarm, rather than just Michael, I'd suggest building the it as a

attack of the bees (Ranged - Explosive Projectile):
             DamageType:          Special - Acid Burn
             Magnitude:           Low
             Energy Point Cost:   Trace
             Stun:                High
             Knockback:           None
             Velocity:            Normal
             Radius:              90 Degrees
             Range:               Long
             Accuracy:            High
             Max Instances:       Max 3
             Animation Name:      direct
             Attached FX Name:    theant_swarm
             Power Flags:         Impact Spawn
                                  Homing

There is also an Ambush Bugs SFX (a Direct attack, I think), that looks pretty good for a bee (or wasp) swarm.

Yeah, but how do you abbreviate the All Star Squadron in your hero files.

Justice League - JLA
Justice Society - JSA
Crime Syndicate - CSA
Teen Titans - TT
All Star Squadron - ???

Back when I actually tried to attach team abbreviations I had an "FF Red Bee" and an "A-SS Red Bee".

(Reed, Sue etc. were abbreviated F4)

We abbreviate it the same way we abbreviate All Star Superman!

In addition to the bee swarm attack, a swarm attack inflicting blindness wouldnt be out of the question, I think. Or an active defense allowing Red Bee to gain minor cover from the swarm around him.

There was an old skin for Male_belt (I think). Possibly by Vigilante.

Yep; it's a Vigilante skin, alright.

Never even thought to abbreviate

I stopped using my Squadron characters a while back because I didn't want to keep having to explain to my daughter why I had a bunch of bad words in my game.

As the little that I know of the personage he has an alone bee in his belt. I added a proyectile swarm but it does not satisfy me.
It is possible that it is better not to add this power for which it is irrelevant.

That goes back to what I said before.   In "All-Star Squadron" Roy Thomas made it a full swarm.   In the golden age stories it was just a lone bee.   That bee was named Michael.

I remember that, now. I remember reading about how in The Golden Age that Green Lantern thought he was insane for doing that.
