Title: My little sister
Post by: thalaw2 on September 15, 2010, 01:24:04 AM
I just got an email from my mom telling me that my sister (2 years younger than me) is in the hospital with an unknown condition.  She will be having surgery soon.  I haven't been able to call home yet because my work day has just started and I need to prepare for a 2 hour lecture.  I always thought I would be the one to go down the serious illness first living so far from home (China) and being almost completely alone.

Anyway, please keep her in your prayers.

Ahh, I know what that feels like, to be so far away when someone you care about is ill.  Y'all will be in our prayers.

Thank you all very much!  the prayers and well wishes are felt.  I finally got in contact with my sister and mother.  My sister is recovering from surgery to determine if she has cancer.  She has been through a battery of tests that have come back negative (thank goodness).  However, there are no signs of her getting better.  I've been worried all day and night because my mom emailed me with the wrong number for my sister's house (where she and my Aunt are staying with my two nieces).

Keep the prayers coming!  Thanks again!

Sorry to hear the news.  Those first tests are good news at least - hopefully they can find out what's wrong and your sister can make a full recovery.  My best wishes go to you and your family.

Sorry about the mysterious malady, but the initial tests coming back negative are good news. It seems like they screen for the worst stuff pretty early. I hope they get things figured out and she is on the mend soon. You and yours are in my thoughts.

Often times these mysterious tricky to figure out things turn out to be fairly simply to fix once they figure it out, because, as Stumpy said, they check for really bad stuff first.  Hopefully, that turns out to be true here as well.

My best wishes for everyone involved in the mean time.

It seems that my sister is in good spirits after surgery.  Now she just has to wait a couple of days for test results to get back then she can go home.  Her only complaint is that she's not getting enough food.  I'm tempted to rant about how lucky Americans are to have hospital food, but I won't.  I'm too happy that my sister could be going home early next week.  I'm still not quite clear what the problem is, because I can only call her late at night and my mother (bless her heart) has trouble using a cell phone, she's nearly 70.

Thank you all very much for your support!  I really wish I could throw a party and invite everyone in the forum.

I need to do a shameless plug for MagicJack.  It works!  It's probably the best $40 I've spent in years on a piece of technology.
