I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I'm not sure how to search for it. After a several-year absence, I'm using character tool 2, and it appears I'm having an issue with meshes with .dds files. For example, I downloaded AA's AoA Astonishing X-Men pack, and they won't show up in ctool (the Standard skin isn't there), but other meshes that use .tga show up just fine. I have the .dds plugin for photoshop, and the files themselves open just fine in PS. What am I missing?
What do you mean by "won't show up"? If you mean the mesh won't load at all, then you might need to convert it to FFv3R format: http://alexff.com/eznif.php
If the mesh shows up, but the skin is all pink or all white, then double check your skin folders to make sure everything is where it should be.
What's happening is the mesh is loading and the keyframes are running, but there is no skin to select from, not even standard. The folder tree appears to be fine.
That's a strange one, I've never heard of DDS skins not showing. You mentioned you have Photoshop...if you take one of the DDS skins and re-save it as a TGA in the same folder, does it show up then?
Another thing to check for is missing _refl and _glow files in the skin folder. That can make the mesh look solid white.
Ok, re-saving as TGA did the trick. Don't know why it won't open DDS, unless I'm missing a patch or something. Now, however, I'm having a different issue. Again with AA's AoA meshes, this one with Rogue, Sunfire and Sabretooth: I'm getting an error where I can't open it period - alert: CDataLoader::loadNIF, Unable to locate fallback NIF thing.
