Heh, I like the artwork, but my favorite bit was how it noted he was "written by Erik Larsen" during the turbulent 1990s-early 2000s. Truly a mark of shame! :P
I dunno. I think he did his best with what he had. The problem has been editors getting in the way. It happened with PAD here and on the Hulk and it happened to Larsen as well; he made no quiet departure when he left Aquaman. I understand that the editors have to steward the character under the new writers but they can't write the stories themselves and we, as fans, have lost out on a lot of "could've beens" due to editorial mandate.

The peach colored fellow, as you termed him, is Koryak, Aquaman's worthless illegitimate son. He's a pretty terrible character from Peter David's run (so he fit right in there). http://www.comicvine.com/koryak/29-23389/
The one behind him is actually Lorena, the new Aquagirl. There isn't tons to her (I'd take Tula over her any day), but she's alright. Aquaman is not a bad hero, he beat out Green Arrow, Hawkman, & Green Lantern to be in the Super Friends. He just has a case of the teamed up with bad writers/ story lines. I'll bet he would be more respected if he has story lines like Batman has.
