Most of those with whom I discuss influential details of my life (read: BS about FR with) already know this, but I commissioned 6 custom action figures recently of both my own characters as well as some FR avatars. Thought I'd post pics as I get them.
Wave 1:

Edit: I'm moving all completed figs to this post, as well as the contest questions
1. Two-Face aka Harvey Kent made his memorable first appearance in the two-part story that ran in Detective Comics issues 66 and 67. In that story a side character appears who would incidentally share the name of another person to enter Harvey Dent's mythos decades later. What are both their names?
2. In the 2002 Fox series Firefly there are a total of 3 ongoing relationships aboard the "firefly" class ship Serenity, between the characters Malcolm Reynolds and Inara Serra, Zoe Washburn and Hoban Washburn, and finally Simon Tam and Kaywinnit Frye. One of these relationships appears to have transcended time and space, because in a 2010 Syfy series the actors who played them would appear as a couple once more. What are the names of the actors and what is the syfy show they appeared in.
3. Most of you know by now that I am the same Antmananext who supposedly produced about a half dozen meshes in the early days of the freedom force community. However, the truth is I transferred the meshes from a separate program and another mesher rigged them. What program did I use to make them (don't worry about version number or anything, I don't even remember) and who did the actual rigging?
4. What are the real names of all five Influx members, and which 3 "originals" (excluding tomato) from the Influx universe are incidentally also avatars?
5. In the Kingdom Hearts video game series, by my count only one character has had an active role in all 5 games currently released in the US. What is the name of the character, what is the name of the weapon he wields in Kingdom Hearts 2, an what role (antagonist or protagonist) does he play in chain of memories?
Fun idea, Tomato.
Can't wait to see the finished results!
Oooo customs. I used to love eyeballing these things. Can't wait.
Can't wait to see how they turn out. Like Unko, I used to love looking at these things too. It will be awesome to see how yours turn out ^_^
I'm expecting some cool results from the loose collector team ( http://www.angelfire.com/planet/loosecollector/ ). It doesn't hurt that they specialize in the Marvel Legends line... I'm sorry, but those toothpick figures from the Universe line annoy me, I feel like if I bought them I'd break them if I squeezed too tight.
Also... since I'm already planning on getting some more figs... Here's a bit of a contest for you guys. The first person to guess all 6 characters (4 avs, 2 originals) I'll commission their avatar next time. Anyone who wants to post guesses can, except for prev, tue, and murs.
And before anyone posts that there are only 3 pics up... I know this. But given that you know 3 are mine and 3 are made by other skinners, you can make some educated guesses.
If I had to guess, I imagine those four avatars to be Prev, TUE, Murs and your own vegetable-headed self.
The originals, I wouldn't know where to start. Theres a lot to pick from.
Wrong... murs tue and prev are excluded because I've told them who the figs are, not nescessarily because they are being customized... I figure for those who are in this batch it's kind of a given that I won't be buying two of them, so on the off chabce that happens I'll just let them choose.
I will, however, say this much: The next batch of six will have 3 figures from a movie (They were left out of the official movie line and that annoys me) as well as 2 of the excluded avatars and the contest winner's av.
Is it Homeless Bill?...... Yep, Its definitely 'ole Hobo Billy.
(Seriously though, I think the last one is Tomato himself.)
First pic could be Ch'nybe. Second pic could be Carr or maybe capeless Previsionary? Third pic, i'm positive it's Zombie Murs. :P
So here's what's going on with this, since I know you've been dying to know and all :P
I received no pictures since these got to me, but I've been talking with the loosecollector crew and they've apparently just been dealing with RL issues, which is understandable. Got an email Sunday saying I should expect a slew of pics this week.
That being said, there's a SLIGHT change in the contest... originally I had planned to post the pics of each step in the process so you could have a better chance, but I was asked not to release pics of anything but assembly and final stages. Since it's kinda hard to tell anything at assembly stage, I'll be giving it to whomever has the most right when the figures are shipped. Also, just to add some extra intrigue, I like having 3d renders of the characters I send them, so if you don't have a 3d version of your av I will make one.
As of now, the winner is reep with 2 correct guesses.
Assuming that you count yourself as an Avatar and that two of the remaining mystery models are your originals, as well as leaping inductively to guess that they belong to influx...
Would they be Marauder and Kid Rocket? Since Mahty is the avatar of a friend as opposed to your own original (correct me if I'm wrong) I ruled her out.
Reep, your assumptions as far as Influx are correct(even if that wasn't my intent... I'm suprised you remembered that about Mahty though) but having said that, Mahty is not the only Influx character your theory eliminates.
Since pretty much everyone has guessed it already, the third image is indeed Tomato himself. At least one of the others I posted is an original.
When everything you've ever said to us is archived and categorised, remembering them isn't much of a problem.
I didn't really want to post completed pics until I'd gotten the last few in-progress pics up and given you guys adequate time to guess (Reep's currently winning, but it's only 3/6 and that's including Tomato.) but I got these in today and I already confirmed his inclusion... so...

The detail on that is astonishing.
That is sick! They did a great job!
Also, I never knew you were so flexible.
pfft, you'll never know how flexible I am murs.
I am *so* happy that I'm winning!
Astounding work.
That looks incredible. The head mold is astounding.
Wow!
That is absolutely fantastic.
Beautiful work.
very very nice work! you plan to launch a commercial edition? :D
That is awesome looking. Better than most of the actual Marvel Legends figures.

If there's a target audience willing to pay over $100 a figure, I might consider it.
Mk, current events for you guys:
From what I'm hearing from the loosecollector guys, I should be getting more pics throughout the week, starting sometime tomorrow (you won't see those yet though, as they'll likely be finished pics of the other two figures up top). Assembly pics of the other three should shortly follow.
The contest is still running, and there's still plenty of time left for guesses... only 3 of Reep's 6 were correct(ironically he got all 3 of the ones I inititally posted), so there's still plenty of room to get in (don't feel bad for reep though... regardless of whether I buy a plastic copy, his avatar is getting 3dized... I've already made arrangements.)
For now I'll keep doing as I have been, and comment on the guesses you've made... but once I post the other three, you'll have to post your final six guesses, no take backsies or edits.
Wow. Incredible!
They take some good photos, too. I am definately checking out this site...
Oh and contest? The first instantly looked like Ch'nybe to me. The second COULD be TUE. Well, it's possible. The third, as you've said, is you.
So, three more avatars? I could see you choosing Figure Fan and... hmm... there are lots to choose. I keep writing stuff down then thinking, "No, no. How about this one?" I'll say Detourne and AA.
4 avs total, including tomato, and at least on original in the next batch.
Even so, you're in the lead now... with 4 correct guesses so far
Umm..what the what?? That Tomato action figure is to die for. Seriously.
I was thinking that AA could be one of them, then I thought Caravaggio but I'm really quite stumped.
Please pick a few more guesses... only two makes it too obvious if I tell you the number of correct (if any)
Edit: wanted to add a bit more info for you guys
At this point I'm planning on ordering at least 5 more batches after this one, mainly to round out the gaps in my X-men figure collection... 17 figures total for that, spread across the final 4 batches. That leaves 1 slot open for each set, plus 3 additional slots for me to cram some originals into.
That said, I'm at a loss to figure out a way to hold a contest for the third batch... the second set of figures is a bit all over the place... 2 batman figs (annoys me to no end the movie masters line never gave us gordon or ra's.) One original, 2 avatars who should be easy to guess if you've read my posts, and the contest winner.
So, in lieu of anything better, when the time comes for batch two I'll give you a few total nerd questions... which anyone is free to answer (my normal cohorts -prem, murs, tue, occasionally aa- are excluded from everything else because I've told them what I'm buying). If you already have a figure, you can pick anyone on fr for me to figurize.
As for the final 3 figs... better brush up on xmen knowledge.
Edit: mk, so long story short, somone posted 6 reasonable guesses that were, unfortunately, completely wrong. I won't say who because s/he deleted his/her posts, but I thought the list might help everyone so I'm replicating it as best as I can (I forgot one >.<).
QuoteUnko Man
Carrivagio
Detourne Me
Billdamn
Figure Fan
Remember though guys, nothing is set in stone until I post the final pics. If you get 0/6 it just means you know none of those characters were chosen and can make corrections. That's part of why I'm posting the correct /6
Edit: I just realized I posted incorrect info... reep did not get the three I initially posted right, I missremembered which originals he guessed... he's still 3/6, just not the first three.
Oh, I see... Tomato counts as an avatar, not an original. OR DOES HE?!? *throws everybody off, but not really at all*
But seriously, I love this. It's like Clue, one of my favourite board games. I am itching to get my final guess on.
That is freakin incredible! I may have to check this out.....
Mk, so apparently somewhere along the way we went from a few weeks between steps to ZOMG breakneck speads. From what I'm hearing now, all 6 should be done and shipped by Saturday (I've actually asked for them to delay shipment until a few days later so I can get them sent directly to my base) so that leaves this week for your final no takebasies guesses.
However, since I'm pretty awesome, I'll leave ya'll with one final clue... between reep and unko all but one of the figure identities has been guessed. For the final enigma, I would suggest taking a quick head count of all the figures.
And remember, the 6 figures are split into 2 originals, 3 avatars, and Tomato.
Can't... resist... challenge...
Okay, doing a little math, following the vague hints and subtle clues, I'm going to guess that one of them is... Tomato! (Did I get that one right? Did I? Huh?)
As for the others, the other three avatars include AA and TUE. The two originals are Ch'Nybe and Kid Rocket.
As for that last avatar, I'm going to guess... Podmark.
I debated whether or not to post results of final guesses on here, but instead I'm just gonna PM everyone directly, let them know what their results are directly, and who (if anyone) they missed.
I still have yet to dictate who wins in the event of a tie... logically it probably should go to whomever posts first, but I don't necessarily want to negate someone just because they read through it a bit later. We'll see how it goes... If there are only a few I might just do both (one for the next batch then another for the third).
I don't see anything wrong with the first to post being the first to win. I thought that is how it was working anyhow.
With that being said, Al totally used a time machine to post all my guesses after I already posted, which altered the timestream so now I'm posting this instead of my original post. It's some kind of crisis on infinite messageboards, I tell ya!

Although, not being Tomato, I'm not at liberty to reveal how many of my guesses were correct, I feel that it's in the best interest of this contest to point out that I did not, in fact, get all six. So, go ahead and post something.
(It's my own fault for using that single-use time machine too soon, instead of waiting until after the actual figures were posted...)
(Wait. I had a single-use time machine, and I used it for this contest?!? D'OH!)
I'll be ending the contest tomorrow at midnight (EST). Anyone who still wants to guess, now's the time
Well, I'm a wee bit late *cough*7 hours*cough* but it really doesn't change much... Alaric wins with 5/6 correct guesses. The full list of characters is:
Tomato
Ch'nybe
Kid Rocket
Fleasheater/TUE
Afghan Ant
Courtnal 6

Just a quick followup to my last post, here's a list of the figures I'll be ordering next, as well as the contest rules for the third batch.
Ra's Al Ghul (Movie Masters)
Commisioner Gordon (Movie Masters)
Mahty
Previsionary
Murs47
Unkoman
Now, as for the next batch... because there's not really any guesswork for this batch (Alaric's a given, the movie masters aren't fair, I said I'd be doing prev and murs and one figure does not a contest make) so, I've opted instead to ask a series of questions... 5 random brain puzzlers from the community, television, games, and of course, comics. So without further adeu... here are the questions
Two-Face aka Harvey Kent made his memorable first appearance in the two-part story that ran in Detective Comics issues 66 and 67. In that story a side character appears who would incidentally share the name of another person to enter Harvey Dent's mythos decades later. What are both their names?

What is the name of the character, what is the name of the weapon he wields in Kingdom Hearts 2, an what role (antagonist or protagonist) does he play in chain of memories?
Ow...... brain hurts.... :banghead:
I think it's really cool for someone to be able to recreate any character they want into their own personal figurine collection. :charonwow
Do we have to guess all the questions, or just one each?
as many as you can. I can't tell you if you're right or not though... and whoever either gets them all right or gets the most right once the next batch finishes (probably sometime next year). There's a reason I made them all retarded difficult.

I can't help feeling like I only won because no one else bothered to enter any guesses during the final leg of the contest- all five of my correct guesses were pretty easy to figure out from the various hints you gave, and the one that wasn't I got wrong. Both Reep and Unko actually did better than I did relative to the amount of info they were working with. Makes me feel kind of guilty about winning, frankly.
I would agree... and do, honestly. But I left everything open for a week or so after you posted specifically so that either one of them could post.
That said, you do have the option of choosing someone else's avatar if you' like, and taking a chance with another contest... this one's a bit tricky, but the following 4 are all not only the same, but all X-men related... figure there should be less confusion with that.
<Post removed, because my answers were too correct.>
I asked Reep to remove the contents of his post just because I didn't want people stealing his correct answers. To prevent the same happening to anyone else, pm answers to me directly.

I should know this one. I'm pretty sure a did a standard for one of your meshes.
Like I said, Al, you had my answers down. I could have posted something else, but that last av would be pure guess work. Honestly, I was going to suggest maybe House Quake. Just pulled it out of the air. There were no clues for that.
Anyhow, I don't think you ought to feel any guilt. That's the nature of a game like this. Whoever gets the last guess in gets to build on what everybody else has done.
Personally, I just can't wait to see more pictures. And, wow... Kid Rocket is looking ripped.
In any case, since my Design-a-Vowel contest (http://freedomreborn.net/forums/index.php?topic=53559.0) is technically still running for a couple more weeks, and may result in my changing my "official" avatar costume (my current avatar pic is just a temporary use of an image from that contest), I think I'd rather try again in a later contest.
You might have noticed already, but the official list of the next batch has changed... don't worry about alaric though... I gave him a major head start on the next contest as compensation.
Oh gosh. I forgot about your contest, Al. I was meaning to enter that... I'm going to take my sketchbook to work today.
As for this contest, well gosh... Thanks Tomato. And Al. Exciting.
PS: I totally have no guesses for the new contest. Wow. That's tough stuff.

What's the cost like on these? If you're ok with posting that.
Prices were(as I recall):
95 for AA, Ch'nybe, and KR
115 for Tomato and TUE
135 for C6
That is something awesome. I can't wait to see my custom! :)

Most likely because they were waiting to see if I gave the ok to send you the pics I just posted. They mentioned it when they emailed me *shrug*
Wow that is one sweet figure.
These customs are outstanding! Truly a one of a kind collection, Tomato.
Hoooboy. These are killer. Man, it is so neat to see these characters in real life 3D (as projected by the 2D computer screen).
Errr... as opposed to the fake life 3D of a video game.
WOOOOOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cant wait to see C6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They've sent me some in-progress C6 pics... nothing I can show(they only want me seeing the in-progress sculpts, for whatever reason), but I can say it looks awesome so far.

They gave me permission to post the final wip before the paint.
these pieces of art make me want to go and butcher my own marvel legends....but I know they'd only end up limbless and broken. not beautiful and well crafted like these. I'm very much considering treating myself to an Artemis Legend after seeing these great figures!
You're very lucky to have these amazing plastic men Tom!

Now that looks really cool. These guys do a really good job.
Now that's just frickin' sweet!
...wow...c6 has officially been immortalized. YOU'RE A TOY DUDE!
Just got an email from loosecollector, the first set is now in the mail. Should have it by Christmas break!
As for wave 2, I just sent my list of figures to them, as well as whatever references I had. While I don't expect anything for a loooong while (I won't officially be commissioning the figs until the new year) for now we're just going to settle on prices and the like, and it'll give them time to plan how they want to assemble everything.

superb simply superb
Look great!
Now that is one nice looking collection.
man...i needs to get me an action figure.
Just paid the first half of the total payment for the second batch (Half on initial order, half on delivery... I usually pay a bit more than half initially though). In total, this batch will cost me 635+shipping, whereas the last one was maybe $5 more expensive. In all honesty though, for the most part this batch was actually much cheaper... to break it down:
Mahty - 90
Previsionary - 95
Final Battle Ras - 95
Trenchcoat Gordon - 95
Unkoman - 110
Those of you good at math will notice there's a significant gap between those figures and the 635 I've ended up paying. Well, that's because one figure somehow managed to be such a costly little jerkface that I'm paying $150 for his figure. Congratulations to Murs47 for bleeding me out of my money.
good looking collection, but the prices are harsh.

That's just like Murs to do...make himself look all cool and wonderufl but he's just a big jerk but not as big as Prev..man, he's a big, ceahp jeark!! At least, you didn't try my av on charactering...cause I'd probably be more expensive than Murs..lol!

Not really. You might be slightly more than average because of zombie goodness, but Murs is such an expensive figure is due to a variety of reasons. His costume is super detailed, he's got more swords, and guns than TUE, and he comes with an exchangeable "unmasked" head (ala morph from the old X-men lines, for those who remember)

Wow...bit amazed that I'm not as expensive as Murs....actually makes me a bit sad cause I would think that everyone wuld be more expensive than Murs..well besides Prev...heh.
Good golly those are pricey. I mean, they do come out awesomely but gee whiz. It makes me feel bad for winning a figure and not just letting you pick them yourself.
Meh, they look amazing, they're worth that much.
That's true. It's actually got me considering getting one...

Don't feel too bad about it man... It's not like I had a gun to my head, the moment the fun of my "contests" ends I'll stop. Besides, I like your av, even added some stuff to it.
Oh, cool. I look forward to seeing it. And all the rest.
Hey, did anybody win contest number two? I went back and looked at them, but I can't say I know most of the answers offhand. (I don't know anything about Kingdom Hearts, also.)
contest 2 is pretty much open-ended... It'll go until this batch is done and/or someone gets all five questions right. But then again, Reep's the one with the high score on those questions, and his endless stalking (I mean really, Reep scares me with his knowledge of my life ) only got him 2 correct answers.
I should add that even if your av has been done, you can still enter contests... I won't do your av twice (that'd be silly) but you would get to pick the avatar who did get it.
