....into the geek club.
So, the other day my sister asks my little 5-year-old cousin, "So who would win in a fight between Superman and Batman?"
And I interrupted, "Thats not a fair question! I mean, the two are of completely different caliber to each other. Not that I like it, since I prefer Batman, but Superman would win hands down. He's immortal, for god's sake. He could lasereyebeam Batman into next week before Bats has a chance to reach his utility belt and pull out his Baterangs - which would bounce off against Supes anyway. It would be more fair to ask who would win between Spiderman and Batman. Sure, they're from different-"
I stopped, realizing what I was saying. Both my sister and my cousin were looking at me with perplexed, cocked eyebrows.
Sometimes, being a geek is hard.
Anyone else got too-much-geek stories?
kyptonite gloves no?

Not too many too-much geek stories. When it comes to comics..I mostly just end up correcting people about the difference between a comic book, a graphic novel, and a trade paper back.
Quotekyptonite gloves no?
Kryptonite is Batman's ace in the hole. Superman knows this. Outside of a Batman titled comic book...Batman doesn't stand a chance.

I was suprised when Damian came around, I figured all that kryptonite would have sterilized him by now.
Seriosly though I've caught myself telling my g.f. details about comics she could care less about, although she got into Punisher Max on the Slavers run.
At least you didn't get into their background and a reason why they would fight each other.
superman's immortal? didnt know that. just one more thing to up everyone else i guess.

Compared to Batman, he is.
I love the fact that this turned into a discussion over who would win, when the key subject of the OP was the fact that I interrupted a child before he could say "Batman! Because he's cooler and doesn't wear silly underwear."
And thats their proof of membership ;)
I've had those discussions. Between having been a comic collector as a kid and a science nut even now, it's pretty much unavoidable. ^_^

Especially when I was a kid, when pre-Byrne Superman was what people meant by 'Superman', there were plenty of tiffs I got involved in where I really didn't care, but I couldn't stand the "Wolverine would kick Superman's butt" argument from people who just thought Wolvie was
so cool. I mean, can't people like a character and still understand that he will not win that fight?

Damien was made in a lab by scientists. That was revealed in Batman #666. (He's not exactly a clone, though)

I skipped that period and came back for Batman and Robin (Morrison/Quietly) so I may have over estimated Batmans ability to have an encounter with a woman (lets say he is no Ironman and certainly no Daredevil).
*warning: Slight Language* /discussion (http://www.biggercheese.com/index.php?comic=609) :P
I think I earn my Geek Credentials on a regular basis...the latest one was Hal Jordan, I believe.
"Oh, hey Green Lantern movie! Neatos"
"Green Lantern? Who the heck is that?"
"*postulates for several minutes on Green Lantern powers, history and backstory*"
"...All I got from that was 'Guy who fires Green Boxing Gloves'"
"Well now, that's trampling on Green Arrows Territory!"
"*glare*"
"...I'll be quiet"
