Hey there fellow FF nutjobs I'm starting this thread to hopefully start a little movement of us here at FR to participate a lot more over at the Irrational Games Forums. Our first salvo should be letting the folks over there know exactly HOW MUCH material has been produced over the years relating to FF...skins, meshes, skopes, artwork, fanfics and mods. I've reached out to a few of the creators here that I know have done FF related stuff...C6, Unko Man,Volsung and AA to maybe post some of there work at the IG forums.
We have such a wealth of stuff for the IG crew to see and maybe if we are diligent we can spark an interest in this game for them again. A new game is what we want right? Well then it's high time we mobilize and make it known that FR has been keepin the dream alive for years! Let's all get on board and let IG know that we're here to stay! Long Live Freedom Force! :thumbup:
If that single spark could bring a third freedom force to live, than it's definitely worth it.
But, I guess marvel and dc stuff is touchy? isn't it?

We were keeping the Sea Urchin and El Diablo under wraps because I wanted to do a mod featuring them plus one or two other "update" FF originals...it's the reason I'd designed them. I wanted it to be about 4 years after the last game. Volsung is a fantasic artist and really did the designs justice. All this talk is making me want to revisit the idea and get it rolling again. But I think I'd only go forward if I could get "certain" incredibly busy people outta retirement. :rolleyes: :P But this is not the purpose of this thread..."GET YER BUTTS OVER TO THE IG FORUMS....PRONTO AND START POSTING!" :P

I did... :P Those skins and meshes are just wonderful...They really look like IG made them for an FF sequel. Fantastic work, guys.

Are those characters available anywhere? Also, was there anything else on that bonus disc? And how is it that i never heard of that before?
Anyway, did anyone from the IG forum who didn't freedom reborn got attracted here? Or did the creator got feedback from, i don't know, the community manager or something? It'd be nice to know that they know.
It's come up a time or two in the Requests forum. I know all four characters were eventually posted somewhere for download. If you search in Requests, you might find the link....if it hasn't been auto-pruned out of exisitence for being too old. In that case, just ask about it again. I'm sure people remember.
If memory serves me, the venerable Protomorph uploaded all four '70s-version meshes to one of his Yahoo Groups. I'll do some digging around and post here again soon.

I just wanna remind every member here on FR and I mean "EVERYONE" to please...head on over to the Irrantional Games forums...sign up...let's make our presence felt over there! ;) We need to Let 'em know that WE WANT FF3!! If you're creating for FF...let em see it...read it...hear it...whatever you're doing. I think the only way we can even attempt to get another game going is if we make our voices heard. I don't wan't FF to go "quietly into sunset"...do you?
Whats the feeling now on posting copyrighted stuff now? I know on their old Freedom Force boards it wasn't allowed, only original stuff got to be posted. Frankly original material would only garner a tiny bit of interest for any possible new FF players while mainstream stuff is what the majority of people would be looking for.
I've broached the question with IGcollin on posting images of copyrighted characters in the fan-art thread and am waiting on a response. Volsung posted some stuff a week or two ago...so far...no flags have been thrown on the field. Mind you they were some old anime characters. ;) Now get on over there, sign up and start posting. :thumbup:

For starters, posting phrases like the one above would likely get one's Yahoo Group restricted. ;)
I suspect that inclusion of seemingly nude (though lacking anatomical detail) base skins (e.g., Eve's base skin) in that site prompted Yahoo place limitations on access to the group. Of course, Proto or someone else may have taken measures to protect minors from the unintentional shock of opening a TGA file only to discover a certain nature-loving Amazon au naturel.

Here's a small excerpt for a letter that I wrote Ken Levine a few weeks ago about an FF3 game and also about may us finally getting our hands on materials from FFvsT3R. ;)
When Irrational reemerged we were so happy and excited at the prospects of there being light at the end of the tunnel...finally a third game might be within reach. But hearing the words "no plans" leaves us all feeling deflated and disappointed. We are also wondering if the remaining materials for the game could be released as a "final" pack for us with all of the character meshes, buildings ect. This material would be a great boon to folks and also be another way for us to keep things going. I know that you're a busy guy but I hope that you'll have the time to really consider this and also I'd really love to hear back from you. Please know that for the core fans you have created a game that has had an ever lasting appeal and we've cared about for almost 10 years. It's banded us together as a community and as friends for these long years...we are just hoping and praying that this isn't going to be our last hoorah! Take care and I wish you continued happiness and success in all your endeavors.

I've been to freedomreborn about a zillion times. I have to confess it's been a while since I've been back.
I'm sorry to disappoint about future freedom force games. One should never say never. I hope you know that Freedom Force is important to me. I paid for the development of third reich out of my own pocket and actually lost a lot of money on it. But we had so much fun I would do it again.
BTW, I'm talking about Freedom Force on a podcast that should be released wednesday called three moves ahead. I haven't recorded it yet, so I don't know what we'll be discussing, but it might be fun for you.
Sheldon, let me look into what would be involved in doing what you request. I've got to talk to Jon Chey, who ran that project. The problem is he left the company a while back, and I'm not sure if there's anybody there in Australia who knows how to do this. Let me see what I can do, but no promises.

Good luck to us all I think. ;) I really beleive that the more of a presence that we have over on the IG forums the better.
