Trying to get a "skybox" and/or "skysphere" to work in maps in FFVTTR....
I've followed readmes on how to create a template/character for skysphere and sky1 in several maps, but the problem I'm having is that the skies show up just fine if I'm running basic/stock/non-FFX FFVTTR, but won't show up at all when I play FFX 3.3. I'm sure this has everything to do with paths in FFEdit, but for the life of me, I can't figure out where the paths are supposed to point....if I'm playing almost exclusively FFX 3.3 instead of "no-frills" basic FFVTTR, should my FFEdit paths be pointing to the FFX folder instead of Data....?
Heh, so many people keep forgetting that FFv3R doesn't share dat files with FFX or any other mods. To get files to show up in FFX 3.0 you need to install these things into its files (change the primary location to "[...]Freedom Force vs The 3rd Reich\FFX") or merge your FFv3R dats "TO" the FFX3 dats.
Thanks for the advice again, Prev....
but I tried merging the dats of everything in the FFV3R Data folder to FFX, and that's even worse....the map won't work at all now. (Yes, I backed the files up, so if worse comes to worse, I'll go back to those.)
When I open up the map in FFEdit's leveledit, the Skysphere shows up just fine; and, again, if I play basic FFV3R, it shows up in-game just fine; but if I try to run it in FFX3, the map won't even load, just hangs up while loading objects.
If I'm playing FF3, should *any* of the paths in FFEdit be pointing to that folder at all....? As it stands right now, my Primary, Secondary, Nif Library and Sound are all pointing at the basic FFV3R Data folder; the Game exe is ffvt3r.exe (not ffvt3r.exe -log); and the Leveleditor is ffvt3rEdit.exe. In other words, none of my paths are pointing at the FFX3 folder; should they be....? FFX is still very confusing to me....
Yes, if you want to install things into FFX3, then the primary path needs to point to its folder. I can't speak on your error without looking at the files myself to see what was changed and what not.
