Howdy guys, does anyone have a herofile for Mantis? USAgent, my usual go-to source, doesn't have one, so I've got no place to begin.
Also, I'm trying to expand my Vision and Black Knight herofiles in line with my new approach of trying to fill out their power slots and attribute slots. I'm pretty close with Black Knight, but the Vision only has five powers at the moment (a modified version of USAgents', natch'. I could use some ideas for these fellas. What do your herofiles look like?
I've been working on building the Avengers in FF2, partially for my friend who's new to FF, but also for my own enjoyment (and I have really been enjoying the process, a nice change of pace). My new philosophy on character design has me trying to walk closer to the way Freedom Force themselves are desinged, with full power and attribute lists, and an actual eye towards prestige costs. I think I've met with limited success. I thought that I'd show off the characters that I'm relatively pleased with, and hopefully some of y'all out there will give me a bit of critique and feedback. I'm definitely hoping to get some more ideas to refine these builds. One thing that I'm very torn on is the active defenses I've given most of them. Because of the nature of these in FF2, the AI tends to spam them quite obnoxiously. I'm debating removing them from anyone who doesn't absolutely need them. You'll find a selection of Avengers below, and it is worth noting that most of these have been modified from USAgents great files.

She's normal strength with high magnitude punches.. this is the lady that knocked out Thor with a punch!

I believe I gave her Acrobatic, Danger Sense, Combat Skill, Empathic Bond (?), and maybe Fast Healing.
I gave her a normal punch with medium magnitude and low stun, a "precision strike" with high piercing damage and high stun, a strong kick with medium magnitude and medium knockback and then a mantis combo, where it's three or four hits of medium magnitude, low stun.
Hmm. I bet this would also work for DC's Willow...

The Witch is an interesting one. In her original appearances (though this may have changed since the 70's) her hexbolts couldn't really do any direct damage, and as such, her only power that actually does damage is her default melee. I'm a little unsure about that, but it is accurate...I suppose she'd be pretty useful as part of a well-balanced team.

I'm becoming a pretty big fan of the Swordsman as I'm reading through the classic Avengers stories of the 70's. I have always loved a reformed villain, and he is really quite endearing and compelling, both in his desperation to prove himself, and in his devotion to Mantis. I'm pretty happy with this build, and I feel like it puts him at a respectable street-level where he belongs, though if he gets lucky, he can even hurt the big boys.

Iron Man is one of my experiments, and I'm not really ready to say whether he is a success or a failure. I've been reading the old Iron Man stories, and he was always running out of power. Back then when everyone had a weakness, Aquaman with his one hour limit, Superman and his kryptonite, Thor and his one MINUTE limit, etc., etc., 'ol Shell Head fit right in. I sorta' liked that, and I thought it might make for an interesting game mechanic, but I'm still debating whether or not I should give him an energy drain attack to make up the difference....
I've got Taskmaster X's hero files (just found these on an old flash drive) couldn't tell you what they're like because I don't have the game installed, but I can send them your way if you'd like.
Most look pretty good. I would up Hercules agility because he does have 1000s of years experience myself. But all i all gets the feel across.
Out of curiosity, If Quicksilver gets an 8 agility, who would get a 9 or 10 . maybe the Flash. does anyone get a 10?
All in all, very good hero files for all. I have a few ideas for ya.
Scarlet Witch's power has always been a hex bolt, which is a projectile and not a direct attack. I like the actual power attacks you've chosen. I made a post about my Scarlet Witch build in THIS THREAD (http://freedomreborn.net/forums/index.php?topic=52768.0) (4th post.)
For Swordsman, you could try some different melee attacks, like a freeze melee or an acid melee (his power is based on Mandarin's rings, so any of those powers would suffice.)
I gave Iron Man the Power Reserve attribute. He can boost up his stats if he has sufficient energy, so it's a great attribute to use. I use it on Iron Fist as well. I'd also add "Heat" to his absorption/passive defense power.
Maybe boost up Black Widow's widow sting attack a little. I agree about Hercules' agility as well... it should be higher.

I see what you mean about 'ol Herc. I suppose I gave him a 4 in agility because I wanted Thor to be more nimble than him. That, plus the fact that he is often overconfident in his battles (allowing blows to land to show how tough he is and such), had me put him there. I'll take a closer look at Thor and Herc, maybe I should bump the Prince of Power up a bit.
Quicksilver...I may bump his agility up some, but yeah, in Marvel Quicksilver was always supposed to be fast, but not THAT fast, really. I just felt like he was always portrayed as having fairly strict limits. Flash would definitely have a 10 in all of the above, it seems to me. Do y'all think he should be higher?
Wow LP! Those are some really good ideas, and I'm afraid that I'm totally going to have to steal them all! :D I really like the idea of giving her a mini quake attack to give her some damage potential. That's great!
I really wish I had some more power slots open on Swordsman. I'd like to make him even more formidable in close range, but his dance cards full up. :P I may remove his disintegration ray and replace it with an acid melee attack or something.
I'll do some testing with the Widow (I haven't really tested her very much), but the reason it isn't higher was for cost. If y'all think it should be higher, I obviously need to look more closely. Thanks for the feedback fellas! Now here is another Avenger:

I'm ALMOST happy with her. I've beefed up her attacks enough that she isn't completely useless, but at the same time, she isn't likely to be the star player on any team. She's a solid support character who is just about hard enough to hit. What do y'all think?
I liked the hero files. I agree with you about Herc, Benton. He's not as good as Thor, so my Herc have 4 agility too. really liked the Repulsor rays for Shellhead and the use of battery powered, his energy ALWAYS ended in the middle of a combat in the old times.
I give all of my tiny characters (Ant-Man, Wasp, Atom, Thumbelina, etc) 9 or 10 agility.. they are supposed to be so small that you can barely see them sometimes, so they can dodge a lot of stuff.
Why did you choose to give her Disciplined?
I made all of Wasp's ranged attacks short distance.. she always seems to fly up close to a foe when she attacks.

Good call in the short ranged attacks, LP. Since Wasp is so tiny it's logical she cannot project her sting to a long range. I agree the tiny guys should have higher agility, but I only give 9, 10 agility to The Flash and guys in his level.
I think I would set Hercules' Endurance to, at least, an 8. Being that he's a god and, well Hercules, he should be more durable than Iron Man (who we both have with a 7 Endurance). You do have him with Physical Resistance, though, so I can see you putting his Endurance a touch lower.
I noticed that you have his wrestling attack set to swap out with Hex. From what I understand, from the FFX manual, this attack will then use the target's resistance to magic to determine damage and/or break the hold. For physical or crushing damage, the swap needs to be set for Energize or Energy Surge.

Agreed on how endearing the original Swordsman was. :)
For Quicksilver, I'd give him at least 9 for speed: He's nowhere near as fast as Flash in absolute terms, but in game terms (and in practice for the Marvel Universe), he's as fast as anyone. For Herc, what about Immortal? For the lovely Witch, the early 70's version was probably easier to KO than what you have, IMO. She had started to study elemental magic with Agatha Harkness by then, so maybe a weak knock-back tornado missile or a binding attack for ground-based targets?
