Title: A Simple Community Resource
Post by: BentonGrey on April 27, 2010, 07:03:42 PM
I was thinking today, you know what would make for a really simple and really useful tool for modders like myself?  An image list of the built in FF2 maps.  I can page through CmdrKeoing's maps easily enough, and see exactly what they are like on FRP, but whenever I go to use a built in map, I have to test five different missions to find the one I want.  It'd be great to have a visual list I could reference instead of depending on my terrible memory.  We could append it to the FF Wiki so that anyone could find it and refer to it.  Does anyone have the time or inclination to throw this together?

No-one else thinks this is a good idea?  Maybe y'all have better memories than I do.  Well, I'll start taking pictures as I check various maps, but how can I take a snapshot through the map editor without seeing all of the tags for objects?

I think it is a really great idea BG, but I just don't have enough time to make it happen.  I was working on a visual reference for all the meshes I have and haven't even been able to give that my attention.  My RL job keeps me pretty busy during the week, and my family usually occupies my weekends.  All that said, if there is anything that could help you, let me know.  I can't promise it'll be quick, but I'll try to help you.

Conceptually, I think this doesn't sound too bad. My suggestion would be to just do this as a spreadsheet format. Maybe list the map's name, creator, link, and a short desription. But as far as a full visual list, I think that it may end up getting a bit too complicated. Too frustrating. Either way though, good luck.  :D

I think you misunderstand, I just think it would be a good idea to have pictures of the built-in maps, the levels that come with FF2.
