So I'm replaying the FF campaign, and I'm on Pan's island, when I zoom in on one of the temples. On the side of the temple are several copies of a real-life ancient Minoan fresco - the bull-leaping fresco. I mean, how cool is that?
Now, I'm an archaeology major, so I don't know if this is the kinda thing that only I would notice or not, but I had to tell someone.
I need to track that down... games made by Irrational have this crazy nerdy enthusiasm. Like most gaming companies just poop out whatever is expected but with Irrational I get a sense of "well this month I had read this book and watched this documentary so that made it's way into the game together with this art style I saw at a modern art museum". You see all sorts of smart influences in the music, story and art. Bioshock is a great example: An objectivist dystopian society? Duude!
Great! Now, I have to find my CD just so I can find out for myself.
