Not sure if anyone's watching but so far they've been showing vinettes of each of the nominees for Best Picture presented by a single actor. So far they've done three and it's been done with Ryan Reynolds, Chris Pine and Samuel L. Jackson.
So I guess if the next seven presenters are Robert Downey Jr, Hugh Jackman, Tobey McGuire, Edward Norton, William Hurt, Anthony Hopkins and Don Cheadle, I think we might have a better idea who will be playing Captain America...
Or maybe I'm just being superstitious. Atleast I thought it was funny.
I'm not watching the Oscars because I realized a long time ago that they're a joke (see The English Patient winning Best Picture and Roberto Begnini and Life Is Beautiful winning anything besides Best Foreign Film for examples). But if Up doesn't/didn't win Best Animated, I'd like to personally flip off everyone who didn't vote for it.

I'm just going to go into nerdrage for everything Up in the Air doesn't win. That was the best movie of the year by a huge amount. And everything District 9, the worst movie of the year by a huge amount DOES win. Nerdrage all around.

District 9 was by far not the worst movie of the year. It was pretty good considering it was a South African film financed by Peter Jackson.
I thought District 9 was really great, absolutely not what I expected. I dunno, I've never cared about the oscars (except sometimes foreign picture) but this year I barely know what was nominated. It was a bad year for movies compared to the last few... no "The Wrestler" or "last king of scottland" or "no country for old men" or "Children of Men" or anything like that... most of the nominated stuff is typical award bait and pap.

ARE YOU SERIOUS? That movie was so darn good. The special effects were amazing and incredibly underrated (IMO, special effects should look as much unlike special effects as possible, and not blatantly show off their budget like avatar.) and it was just a darn fine piece of cinema.
Also, it'd say its more a Canadian film than South African, as Neill Blomkamp is a current Canadian citizen and went to film school in BC, and the editor (who was nominated) graduated from the Film Production program at the University of British Columbia (which I'm in!).

The film was shot in South Africa and with a few bits in New Zealand with a mostly South African crew and mostly South African cast if not all. I'd consider it a joint effort in that regard between the Canadians and the South Africans. However, I would put the majority of it as a South African film.
I thought Up sucked. I enjoyed Bolt oodles more. District 9 was very good IMO, except that it fell short of achieving it's real potential.

I still think Fantastic Mr. Fox should have won.
The Oscars ARE a joke though, and have been for a long time. Sandra Bullock obviously only won because they thought they had ought to give it to her. Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep (not that this year's was a fantastic role) already have them. It SHOULD have went to Gabourey Sidibe, but it's her first movie and she's unconventional so sorry.
At least they gave Avatar the finger, although did it really deserve cinematography? And Imaginarium should have got best art direction.
But really, I can't complain too much about anything because Christoph Waltz got Best Supporting Actor and quite frankly his character was one of the greatest villains in recent movie history. Inglourious Basterds should have won Best Original Screenplay based on his dialogue alone. I wasn't even that impressed by the movie!
