If you have an older model or "fat" PS3 do not turn it on for the next 24 hours. According to Sony a problem with the internal clock has crippled older model PS3's. They say that if you even turn it on before they fix it you risk data getting corrupted.

THanks for this. Mine was on. I don't know why. I didn't turn on my TV to look at it. I guess I'll check back for when its fixed.
People are guessing that the problem will fix itself when the internal clock changes the day to March 1st. That happens around 7pm EST. We'll see.

Reports are coming in that this issue has fixed itself.
I haven't tested this because I'm waiting for Sony to confirm the claims.

Those fanboys on the Sony forums are demanding free stuff. Saying Sony sucks and never buying it again. Geez.. those people need to get a life.
