You would probably need to define what "better" means....
a mod that vastly improves upon the rumble room.more maps,better ai,etc.

You should be able to use any maps you have installed in the rumble room. And if you have M25's AI set up and running the rumble room characters should use it as well (assuming you are running FFX and not vanilla FFvTR). These are game specific things, not unique to the rumble room.
One thing I have noticed is that the AI in general is little dumbed down in the rumble room. If I remember correctly setting the difficulty level to hard will beef up the computer AI.

Its pretty much unheard of nowadays to be running the stock game. FFX just adds sooo much.
