I can forgive some of the design choices since it takes place on Cybertron and they are in "cybertron mode". I would still prefer an actual G1 Transformers game...nothing beats the originals :cool:

Plus I'm sure if a company wanted to make a series of franchise games for Transformers then starting the first one on Cybertron would make the most sense. I'm sure that an easter egg at the end of the game probably is a variation of the Ark sequence where they end up crashing on Earth awaiting the next chapter of the story if the game is a success.

Well...if they hew somewhat close to that great comic series that covered the War Within, it should have an awesome story. I have to say, I'm more than a little excited about this. A game that has some possibility of being good and using the G1 characters? I'm all over it! However, I would REALLY love an actual G1 game. Still, as CQ says, there is always the chance that if this does well that will be the next place they go!

Awesome! There is still a bit too much gray, but at least they don't seem afraid to give the characters some color. I hope we see a good cast of characters. :D

Looks great. Really hoping they are doing like the first Marvel Ultimate Alliance where pre-ordering lets you unlock certain characters from the start and the rest through GAMEPLAY.

It would really annoy me if you couldn't get all the characters eventually, no matter when you ordered. I'm really glad this is coming out for PC. I'd be heartbroken if it wasn't, because I will DEFINITELY buy this.

Sunstreaker was my only guess for the gold guy too, so I'm thinking you're probably right about him.
As for the first one, remember, this game is supposed to detail Starscream's joining of the Decepticons, so that MIGHT be him early on in the story.
Yellow guy is Demolisher. One of the exclusives. Never seen him before.
They must have change the pics. Where Jetfire is Starscream was there. He looked just like SkyWarp & ThunderCracker, but had his Red/White/ Blue colors.

The game is out in two days, and I got a chance to play the demo on my friend Kurt's 360 tonight. How can I sum up my experience and first impression of the game? IT WAS AWESOME! Ha, I was a little wary at first, but it really is an absolute blast. They actually made transforming important, fun, and every bit as awesome as it should be, plus the basic gameplay, being largely cribbed from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, is a blast. I converted a roomful of my friends, all of whom were thinking I was just being a nerd and that this game wasn't going to be particularly good, and as they got a chance to play one by one, they all sang its praises.
I've got a question for y'all, though. Does anyone know if there will be any mode that will allow you to play with four guys on the same machine? It just seems stupid for it not to have a way to do a single XBox four player match, but I haven't seen anything about that. I think that MAYBE the escalation mode might serve that purpose, but I can't find any definite answers.
Anyway, the game is awesome, try the demo, and buy the game itself to support people making GOOD products out of those 80's properties!
Target had the PC version for sale on Saturday. I was tempted to pick it up but decided not to. I'm getting the 360 version, because I want Jazz and I can play with you guys online.
I'm getting the PC version, but I imagine my friend will get the 360 version....although I am really beginning to wonder if the only way we'll be able to play together on his 360 is with co-op....
Only online multiplayer for 360, PS3 and PC. No offline at all sadly.

Well, I'm using a gamepad (and being competitive doing so), so it is hard for me to say. There is some grumbling about the control scheme for the mouse and keyboard layout, but I feel like the gamepad layout is perfect.

Ohh yeah, absolutely. Multiplayer is an absolute blast, the campaign is beautiful and engaging, and the whole thing actually manages to FEEL like the Transformers.
:EDIT: So, here is a review that is a bit more thoughtful. This game LOOKS fantastic, but all you have to do is look at a screenshot to know that. In addition to the fantastic graphics, however, the game also is really impressive because of just how faithful they are to the
spirit of the Transformers, specifically G1 (the only TRUE Transformers setting)! None of the characters look exactly like their cartoon or comic counterparts, and yet, you can identify them at a glance. They make perfect visual sense, and the generic Autobot and Decepticon troopers that fill various levels and populate mutliplayer look like they could have stepped out of the same source as Optimus and Megatron. The campaign itself, while I haven't gotten that far into it yet, is equally impressive. It is equal parts fun, frantic, and cinematic. There is something very satisfying in mowing your way through the ranks of opposing Cybertronians, and the gameplay is challenging enough to force you to mix up your tactics and be creative. What's more, they really capture the idea that you're in the middle of this ancient, robotic war. Things explode around you, (in the Autobot campaign) Iacon falls apart as you watch, and it all takes place in this really beautiful alien setting. Also, there are some big action set pieces, like when the Autobots are racing across town, and Soundwave shows up in a ship to blast the roadway you're traveling on. Also, the voice work (ESPECIALLY Peter Cullen) is superb. Hearing Optimus say, "Autobots, Roll out!" was a pretty awesome experience. I am REALLY looking forward to playing this campaign with my friends, and I now believe that it is just about worth the 360 purchase to be able to do so.
However, as all of the game reviews have already said, multiplayer is where this game really shines. Although High Moon made the nigh unforgivable choice of completely ignoring split-screen multiplayer, if you have an internet connection, you can almost forget about that. I would really like to be able to team up with a room full of my friends to fight the Decepticon menace, but even playing with strangers online (something I've never been very fond of) is a real blast. It definitely has its flaws, like the lack of host migration, missing chat features, and a few other oversights that would allow for a lot more teamwork or community. Still, the actual gameplay itself is really addicting. I'm only just now getting to the point where I'm not stinking out-loud, but even as bad as I am, I'm having a good time. There is a lot to learn here, when to transform, when to play which class, what guns work best in which situations, but that means that as you improve, the gameplay deepens. I've only played team deathmatch so far, mostly trying to get decent before I took on the other modes, but there are a nice variety of gametypes available.
All things considered, this is a MUST buy if you are a Transformers fan currently, were one once, or are even a child of the 80's at all! If you're not a TF fan, but like good games, specifically shooters that try to do something new, I'd suggest you give this one a try as well.

Sadly the industry seems to be moving this way.
Is the campaign split-screen co-op? Early on I'd heard something that sounded like it was, but nothing since.
Planning to pick this up, not sure when yet.
I haven't played the 360 version, but yeah, I think so. I don't really see how it could work otherwise.
On another note, you know what I think would be really cool? If this game did well enough to produce not only a sequel, but also a spin-off, sorta' like Halo Wars. I'd love to see an RTS that incorporated a lot of the elements from this game and all of the Transformers characters. It would be much easier to have a wider cast in that.
I picked this up for PS3. I'm still working on finishing the campaign. Multiplayer is a blast and takes up a lot of my play time. :)
