Title: Sidekick Attribute: how does it work?

I don't see it in the manual.

as far as i know, it doesn't do anything. in string txt, ffxmulti and ffxcustom i searched for this attribute, and as far as i can tell there's nothing scripted about this attribute so...
but i guess it would have work like synergy or something (giving bonus if you are close to your designated hero)

i actually have a lot of question on ffx (i may be exagerating but i do have a lot of "i wonder if..." moment)
Are there any plan to do a new update on ffx some day? or are the people who did this gone or willing to do something else?

"Sidekick" is a trick used to get Private Army to spawn only one minion. It doesn't actually do anything by itself, it just costs points. Let's say you wanted to have Robin show up as Batman's minion (rather than as a separate playable character). You give Batman the Private Army attribute, and set Robin as his minion in the Control Center. Normally, you would get several copies of Robin showing up. But by giving him the "Sidekick" attribute, you drive up his point cost, so the game only spawns one copy of him.

Ah. That's what I did anyway.

Does the sidekick have to be a built in character or can you just use a hero file in the drop down menu of ffedit2 & Does it matter if it's private army grade 1 or 2 or 3 ?

You know I always wondered why I couldn't get that to work.  :)
