"Look higher, then--perchance--thou mayest-beyond / A hundred ever-rising mountain lines, / And past the range of Night and Shadow--see / The high-heaven dawn of more than mortal day / Strike on the Mount of Vision!" (Tennyson's The Ancient Sage)
My friends, I have finished my thesis. This is a beautiful thing.
Huzzah! Congratulations, Benton!
Congrats Benton. What was it on and how long did it turn out?
Congrats! And good luck on your defense.
Congrats, buddy!
Whoooot! Goooooo Benny!
Dana
Thanks guys! I am SOOO happy to be done with it! To answer your question GG, it was on Tennyson's King Arthur from his Idylls of the King. Basically I was making the argument that, although he's been maligned and ignored for years, he's worthwhile and heroic because of the way he shapes the world. He refuses to accept a relativistic reality, and for a time, he creates an ordered world where man is free of doubt. In the end, it was 31 pages, although I'm sure that will grow with my revisions.
Huge congrats! Now that you have finished your thesis what are you going to do next? Disneyland? :P
Well done BG, major congrats!

Ha, nope, now I'm going to try and finish the DCUG. :P
Congrats. I like your choice of subject.
Thanks Steamteck, I have to say that I am very, VERY burnt out on the topic by now. ;)
Congrats Benton. Awesome job on finishing your thesis.
Thanks CB!
So, I am now two weeks and change into my first ever semester as a professor. I am having a blast, despite more than a few speed bumps along the way. I just wanted to say...thank you all for being competent writers, for the most part. I got my students' first paper back last week...and I thought my eyes were going to bleed. It is so nice to read your posts without having misplaced commas stabbing my brain.
Professor?
Ooh! Fancy!
Congratulations on finishing the thesis, Benton. I mean Professor Grey! :)
"Professor Grey"... that does have a nice ring to it.
And Benton, I feel your pain. FR has always had consistantly good fiction challenges and writing, but that's FAR from true everywhere (shudder).
professor grey.sounds like a good ff avatar.

I was too, when I finished my masters degree. I had to do a combined thesis/project and defend it. My professors didn't know anything about the subject because it was very technical, so they only critiqued my grammer and citations. The defense took about 30 minutes including Q&A, but I did a ton of research and to be honest, never want to discuss it again. I know it by heart to this day, but I don't want to talk about it.
It being water resources planning in Nebraska.
Professor is it? I hadn't picked up on that before! More congrats to you!
I'm not sure what suits Professor Grey better - you're either a high-ranking figure at the X-Men manor, or a dull alternate character who didn't make the final cut for Cluedo.

I feel your pain. I teach ESL....I love it but I think that I'm losing my ability to write English sentences without errors.
Thanks guys! Yeah Thalaw, right now I'm hyper sensitive...but it is only a matter of time before they beat me down too much to care...
