Title: TOOL
Post by: primus on July 31, 2009, 08:57:04 PM
Well it has taken way too long to get to this point, but I am finally going to see Tool live this sunday in Manchester, NH.  Was hoping I could spark some conversation about the band.  Any fans or haters out there?

I for one feel that Tool is the perfect band, each member is an artist in their parts.

I like the band but I really have not bothered listening to any albums after AEnima.

Just out of curiosity if you like the band why haven't you.  Even I have to admit that there last two albums were not as good as AEnima, but definitely worth a listen.

My fandom for Tool has waned recently, but that's more due to the fact I just don't really listen to metal nor rock as much as I used to.  I wasn't a fan since their beginning, but I did start listening to them when Undertow came out (sometime in '93 I think).  And I was heavily into them for quite some time.  I did buy 10000 days when it came out, and listened to it for quite a while.  These day though, their music fails to thrill me like it used to.  Maybe if I were to see them in concert I might have fun, but I have little anger left in me so angry music just doesn't do much for me.

I love that avatar Kommando.  I hear ya about the anger, I know I still got some inside.  10000 days was very lacking in my opinion, it has great songs, but then it also has songs that I feel aren't up to the usual standards of Tool

Well I remember hearing Lateralus and not knowing when one song started and another ended or which song I was on. I would have probably liked it more with some additional investment but nothing stood out to me. Same happened to me when the Caifanes turned into the Jaguares... the music was great but it really bled into each other.

I love the band.  easily in my top five favorites of all-time. but actually for more of a spiritual reason...  anyway, congrats on getting to see them live! I've never had the chance.

Cool band, I like all their stuff, even side-projects like the first Perfect Circle album.

They do a sweet like show too.

Just got back from the concert.  All I can say is  :o

Such great visuals and sound.  The only thing that sucked was the hour long wait between the openers and Tool.
During the last song Maynard stopped the music, introduced a teenager from the Make A Wish Foundation and the kid played a second set of drums and finished the song.  The kid was amazing.

Who were the openers? When I saw Tool, it was the Melvins.
