Title: Spaced
Post by: MJB on July 24, 2009, 04:59:01 AM
After what seems like a looong wait, Spaced is now available to watch in the states via Hulu.

I've heard a bit about this series thanks to mags and such, but I haven't watched many episodes. Until now.

Wee!!

It's a great show.

I'm looking forward to the director, Edgar Wright's, take on Scott Pilgrim and Ant Man.

Great show. The second series is particularly good.

It is a great show, though a few of the references are old enough to be dated but not old enough to be timeless (The Matrix, I'm looking in your direction).

This came out on DVD a few months ago. I watched them all in one day. It was really hitting its stride too bad it didn't get to go on.
I thought it was quite funny when he cried about Star Wars Episode 1.

As much as I hate supporting something owned by Rupert Murdoch, hulu is just too good. There are so many hidden gems on it, the first two seasons of Voltron and first three seasons of Speed Racer for instance. I'll have to check out Spaced.

hulu is just too good.
except if you live outside of the us. that's starting to becoe more and more annoying, since now a lot of people just don't take the time to look for good free streaming with no advertisement. they just post hulu links and assume everyone can watch this. that and megavideo links where you have to pay to watch more than 1hour of video is killing streaming for me (since youtube also started putting advertisement in-between video)
so, download all the way, torrent/newsgroup you name it...no advertisement and watch when you want.
Beware. Streaming is trying to turn the internet into a new television.

about Spaced: didn't know it, just watch the first episode and it looks good. i'll think i'll check the entire serie

Oh no they are requiring I watch 15-20 sec ads in exchange for a free legal streaming of shows/movies. How dare they!

yes, how dare they. I stoped watching tv because we get 6min of advertisement every 20min or so. I know you guys get more of it. But every year the advertisement/show ratio change, and not in the good way. And streaming is gonna go the same way. What will you say when you have ten forced minute of adversitement between two video on hulu?
We already got "newsletter" (ad you suscribe for) and specifically targeted ad (flash blocker get rid of that i admit), and "gold account" (wich makes you pay not to have ad everywhere). I just think than in a few years internet will be worse than tv and that i'll drop it too.
and don't even start on "nothings free, without advertisement you can't have anything". did you know that in france, advertisement on public television was banned? and guess what, we still have high quality programs. i know it's not possible on the internet (some people don't have anything else than advertisement to make money...and that's just sad...)
but i'd like a little more regulation, i don't wanna end up with the american model everywhere
"In the 1960s a typical hour-long American show would run for 51 minutes excluding advertisements. Today, a similar program would only be 42 minutes long"
and the ad time per hour is still going up. If you can garantee me that hulu will never put advertisemnt longer than 20sec for any video, then i withdraw (except the fact that i still wouldn't be able to watch it, but i guess they're working on similar website for the foreigners).
so i'm sorry but i'm still a little uneasy about hulu.
