Hey anyone know what program people use to edit skins for Quake/Unreal like we do here for FF?

Quake and Unreal...wow, now there's some memories.  IIRC regular old paint shop type programs worked, but I believe you needed to have some program to unpack the textures/meshes and then repack them after editing.  Quake engine games I think used PAK, PK3, and PK4 formats which would contain a PCX file that could be edited.  Unreal Tournament had several files I think you could just add to a couple of different subdirectories (no unpacking); the skin's a JPG, but there's also a UTX and an INT file which were needed to make it work.

Wow thanks for the info.  I'll take a look around and see what I can do.  Thanks again

http://skins.telefragged.com/ (http://skins.telefragged.com/) used to be a good place to start, but it hasn't been updated in 7 years!  There were some other sites but I think they're belly up now. http://planetquake.gamespy.com/quake2/ (http://planetquake.gamespy.com/quake2/) is always a good start.  I used to have a collection of comic book skins for Quake 2.  Good luck.
